How to Make a Sugar Body Scrub – At Home Luxury Treatment

We too often run to the nearest beauty store to pick up skin and body treatments when in actual fact we can always make an alternative at home. the benefits of this is we know exactly what is going into it and the ingredients are nearly always natural and organic – in no way harmful to even sensitive skin types. not to mention the money you can save when steering away from expensive brands. one more – you are also doing the planet a favor by not demanding products which are excessively packaged.

One of the homemade alternatives I want to show you how to make is a sugar body scrub. I could have chosen from a whole other range of homemade body treatments – but this one is somewhat special, at least that is what my friends keep telling me

Our bodies and skin come in contact with an awful of of dirt from day to day and sometimes a normal body wash can not remove this dirt alone – it gets deep in the pores you see and the only way to dislodge it is by drinking lots of water and using my version of a sugar body scrub Try it out – I can guarantee you will be pleased with the results As well as deep cleansing, this scrub will stimulate cell renewal and remove dead cells from the skin’s surface. the result is squeaky clean and super smooth skin that you will want to touch over and over

Prepare yourself by collecting the following supplies from your kitchen or local food store:

* Sugar Choose either white or natural brown sugar – you could mix the two if you wanted. you will need two cups full for your first batch.

* Oil. out of all the oils you could use, a virgin olive oil is a particularly good choice. Alternatively, if you have any other nut or fruit based oils in your cupboard then they will work wonders. Cooking/frying oils don’t have quite the same effect so try to avoid those varieties.

* Whole Vanilla Beans.

* Lavender Essential Oil.

Place the sugar in a container with the vanilla beans and cover. Try and leave this for at least a week if not two – the longer you do, the more intense the scent of vanilla will be.

After this short wait(), you can take the beans out of the sugar and replace them with a couple of drops Lavender essential oil. to complete (I forgot to mention how easy it was), saturate the sugar in your chosen oil.

Your homemade sugar body scrub is now finished and ready to enjoy. you would be best applying it to the skin whilst taking a shower and smoothing it over the body in circular motions from the feet up – this is great for boosting the circulation. once you have seen the benefits of this standard body scrub you can experiment with different ingredients such as peppermint, lemons or ground coffee. you will soon realize how much fun this can be

How to Make Your Own All Natural Body Scrub

This is my favorite recipe for an all natural body scrub. These scrubs sell for $20 or more at your favorite retail outlets, but here I will teach you to make one for about $1.

You need:

and either your favorite essential oil or extract (like vanilla) for scent.

Mix 1/4 cup Olive Oil

and 1/2 cup table sugar together.

Then if the mixture is too runny you can add more sugar a tablespoon at a time until you get a nice consistency.

You can leave it unscented, or add one teaspoon of extract or ONE drop of essential oil at a time until you get the scent you like.

What does it do?

Olive Oil–moisturizes naturally

Honey–enzymes provide better exfoliation

Sugar–exfoliates (you may also use salt–table or sea–salt provides a stronger exfoliation)

Scent–makes you feel good

Some suggested scents:

Vanilla Extract–soothing

Orange Extract–refreshing, wakes you up

Peppermint Extract–invigorating, this also tingles sometimes, for those times orange isn’t strong enough

Lavender Essential Oil–calming, great for the shower right before bed

Rose Essential Oil–calms you, clears your head

Sandalwood Essential Oil–stimulates creativity

Cinnamon or Ginger Essential Oils–stimulate brain function, increase appetite

The ingredients wash away down the drain with no problem.

The oil can make the tub slick, so take this into account when using it.

An allergic reaction would be INCREDIBLY rare, but to test, put a small circle of product on your inner arm, leave for an hour and wash off with soap and water. if there is no reaction in 24 hours you will be fine.

You can make this as a gift as well. my family jumps at the homemade scrubs I make. just place the scrub in a quilted jelly jar and make a pretty label for the top. Mine say:

ALL NATURAL VANILLA BODY SCRUB

contains only:

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

patch test 24 hrs. before first use

There's nothing more evocatively glamorous than the old-style uniform of a military nurse

Crisp white pinafores, red woollen capes, ankle-length grey dresses, nipped at the waist and buttoned to the throat.

There’s nothing more evocatively glamorous than the old-style uniform of a military nurse, complete with starched muslin headscarf and little leather boots.

It was all part of the act: a demure, elegant, ladylike costume to match the smiling, serene spirit of women who endured the worst of war, and never showed the strain.

For the first time, the extraordinary reality of military nursing is being recognised by the temple to Australia’s sacrifice, the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

The Memorial’s a very masculine place, as you’d expect: a sombre tribute to the courage of infantrymen and all-male bomber crews and the chaps of the Light Horse.

But sprinkled throughout the galleries, and collected in this exhibition, are the faces of women, always crisply uniformed, always smiling. the smiles alone are a marvel.

I’ve often thought it’s a shame modern nurses wear practical, loose-fitting scrubs or sensible trousers and blouses, instead of those swishing skirts of old.

The glamour has gone, but the spirit lives on, and I think modern women owe a great deal to the military nurses who have served with our forces abroad for 130 years.

All women, I mean. Nursing, in the early 19th century, was very much an amateur gig: a dirty, sweaty business reserved for nuns and close relatives of the patients. Nice young ladies from respectable families didn’t go anywhere near hospitals. but war, and in particular the courageous legend of British nurse Florence Nightingale in the Crimean War in the 1850s, transformed nursing into a serious profession. That, in turn, made nursing a respectable civilian occupation, and helped women advance their campaigns for equal pay, workplace rights, suffrage and financial independence.

Australian War Memorial curator Robyn Siers, who put together the exhibition Nurses: From Zululand To Afghanistan, told me they were "an adventuresome lot".

"they had a strong desire to do their bit as women, and they went to pretty remote and difficult places with often poor equipment, very poor sanitation," she said. "they rolled their sleeves up and got into it."

There’s a beautiful picture in the exhibition of three nurses recently returned from the Boer War. They’re holding the leash of a Rhodesian ridgeback named Buller; probably named in jest after the spectacularly bombastic British General Sir Redvers Henry Buller.

"Modern nursing does owe a lot to wartime nursing; the development of new techniques, the extraordinary experience. the use of penicillin, the ability to do aero-medical evacuations, triage – all of that was accelerated by war," Siers said.

For most of our history, nurses who married had to leave the service and return home to Australia – an incredibly difficult choice for those women who happened to fall in love with soldiers.

They had to give up their profession and their patriotic service.

In the 1970s, that changed – another step in the growing respect for nursing, and women’s work more generally. There’s controversy about the federal government’s recent decision to allow women to apply for the all frontline jobs, including navy clearance diving and special forces.

The truth is women have been on the frontline all along.

Like Royal Australian Air Force nurse Sharon Bown, a squadron leader. she was working in Hobart as a hospital nurse when she enlisted in 1999 – and has seen action in East Timor, Afghanistan and Bali, where she helped evacuate Australians after the 2005 bombing. in East Timor in 2004, Bown suffered a fractured spine in a helicopter crash, while trying to evacuate a patient – and found herself at the centre of the emergency, cared for by her own colleagues.

"there is nothing romantic about war, and if you listen to the true stories of the experiences of military nurses, you realise that. but often those very personal stories are never told, because they’re potentially too painful or too private to be shared," Bown says.

"Military nurses have to have a particular type of attitude to remain optimistic and positive despite what they’re seeing. part of caring for your patients is not necessarily revealing how hard it might be for you."

Smiling through the hell – what could be more glamorous?

Best Anti Aging Wrinkle Advice – Dr Oz’ Guide to a Younger Face and Body

One of the ways to beat anti aging wrinkles can be to apply a cream which is high in certain herbal extracts which are great for the skin.

Alternatively, what most people overlook when they want they their skin to remain young tight and fresh is taking a look at the bigger picture. It’s all very well applying a cream but if your body is not healthy then you’re not getting the full results.

One of the best ways, studies have revealed to having healthier younger skin is to make sure your arteries are clean and functioning effectively so no new blockages begin to form which will become noticeable in certain areas around the face and body.

These areas may appear bloodshot or purple so it is essential for your body to reap the full benefits by keeping our arteries clean. One way, scientists have discovered which was recently reported by celebrity dietitian, Doctor Oz, is resveratrol. a seven year study carried out by the National Geographic unearthed that healthier skin and longevity in general is mainly due to keeping our arteries fresh and new and running properly.

What Resveratrol does they argue is it effectively scrubs your arteries. Found in the grape skin, this fungi is naturally produced to fight the plants bacteria and found in wine, three times the level to that found in western supermarkets; the people of Sardinia who on average consume two glasses of red wine a day have the largest male centenarian population in the world.

Obviously just consuming resveratrol alone will not make the biggest impact on your longevity and effectively your skin, but if it is accompanied with regular exercise and a diet high in Omega 3 Acids, your skin and wrinkles will soon take on a different look, scientists argue.

Resveratrol is now sold in the bottle, and each bottle contains 60 capsules which is the equivalent to roughly 1000 bottles of Sardinian red wine so the concentration is obviously high

Benefits – Sugar

There are three different types of sugars from which sugar scrubs can be prepared. They are white, brown and natural cane sugar. the scrub prepared from brown sugar is considered to be the best one. There are two reasons for this: the great smell it has, it is gentle to skin and the gives better muscle relaxation. it has several benefits. They do not have any side effects and they are suitable for all skin types. They help in fighting body cellulite.

They help in fighting dry and flaky skin which is developed over a period of time. They hydrate the skin and hence effective on conditions like psoriasis and eczema. Unlike other scrubs these not only exfoliate the skin but this scrub also cleans the skin and it can also be used for massaging the skin.

The sugar gets absorbed into the skin and hence the sugar scrub do not get clogged into the pores thus is more helpful in conditions like acne. Sugar contains alpha hydroxyl which gives glowing skin, scrubbing the face with sugar gives smooth and clean skin. Regular use of sugar scrub gives glowing, healthy and skin of uniform complexion. Sugar scrub can be used for children also as it has no side effects. this can be used to sooth the skin after rough shave. They circulate in the system can stimulate the lymph nodes. Regular sugar scrub use prevents tanning of skin. it is best for blemishes and for chapped lips. however intake of sugar means intake of calories but this is helpful in case of instant energy requirement like hypoglycemia.

Professional and Elite Lab Coats

A lab coat or a scrub gives the person a professional and powerful appearance at the work place. from long, white scrubs, uniforms are being used by people in the medical domain, as it symbolizes purity and dedication. now the colors of the uniforms have started changing, yet the professionalism and dignity is maintained in the new uniforms. Lab coats are being used by bio engineers, industrial professionals, scientists, hospital staff, and so on. The uniform usually symbolizes the profession and is at times considered elite and valuable.

Now professional and elite lab coats are available in different colors as well as patterns. The length of the coat, the sleeves, the neck pattern, the buttons used, and the fabric can vary. The length of the coat can be up to the knee and just as long as jackets. The sleeves can be half, 3/4 or even full sleeves. The lab coats used by the medical professionals are often white or some light shades. and the coats for the industrial professional are usually dark colored. These can be made of cotton or fire resistant material depending on the nature of the job. The scrubs of women have become trendier with embroidery works and different neck patterns and laces. The coat openings can be fitted with zippers or buttons now.

The elite lab coats are the trendy uniforms with embroidery works, customized pockets and zippers, length and colors. You can buy a lab coat based on your nature of work and choice. if you work under hazardous conditions it is better to buy a hard and fire resistant material coat. while if you work in the hospital or lab and require a lot of running around, you can opt for the breathable and light colored fabrics. The firms and organizations can make the choice of the uniforms keeping in mind the comfort of the individuals.

Dead Sea Salt Scrub – Heal Your Dry Winter Skin

A Dead Sea salt scrub can help heal your dry winter skin. There is nothing worse than the scaly itchy skin everyone develops in the winter months. It’s horrible when your colored sheets look like a snowstorm hit them from all the nasty dry skin left on them Constantly scratching at yourself just isn’t very attractive. A good exfoliating scrub can help alleviate this condition, along with application of a quality organic moisturizer afterwards.

A Dead Sea salt scrub exfoliates your skin to leave soft, smooth skin in its wake. Dead skin builds up on the surface of our skin, particularly when we are exposed to the drying factor of central heating constantly. old, tired skin needs a little help to be removed to reveal new, healthy skin cells. Dead Sea salt is well-known for its healing properties. Bathing in this salt has been documented to help ease painful skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, and has been used for centuries for this purpose. The high mineral content of these salts helps provide healing and relief to dry, itchy skin. Even acne conditions are reported to benefit from the high mineral content of these salts.

Dead Sea salt scrub can cost up to $30 to purchase in designer bath stores. This is nothing but insanity think about this carefully: Is salt an expensive item? no, it certainly is not Why would you even dream of paying this much for something you can make for far less at home? Granted, Dead Sea salt is more expensive than regular salt, but I guarantee that you can still make it for much, much less than it would sell for in the stores. In fact, for $30 you could make enough of this scrub to last you an entire year

Getting a Dead Sea salt scrub as part of a salt glow in a spa can set you back $90 in a day spa. Why not keep our money in your pocket, instead? For just a few minutes work, you can make your own exfoliating scrub to give you glowingly healthy skin, and relieve your winter itchiness. Grab a friend to rub you down well with the scrub to exfoliate that dry, dead skin.you can return the favor, then apply a nice moisturizing lotion after a nice, warm shower. if you weren’t close friends before, I guarantee you will be after this

Whats the best homemade scrubs to use and for the body ? please answer?

like homemade scrubs , ingridients , and hommade that u can use for the body

the one from dollar tree…its cheap and good! works perfect!

You can make great, cheap ones from sea salts and lemon. you can even use sugar and lemon for more sensitive areas.

Use oatmeal, prepare it and stuff, the instant stuff will work, and then you can use it as a scrub, for your anything you want to exfoliate.

I found this scrub by accident! I bought a bottle of honey but accidently left it in the car and in froze- resulting in the honey to crystalize some. a few days later I was reading how good honey is for your skin so I thought what the heck! the crystalized honey worked just like the expensive scrubs for exfoliating and the honey softened and smoothed my skin like I couldn't believe! the best part is because it is just honey I didn't have to worry about slippery oils in my shower and the honey dissolved so there was no mess!!!

I just thought of another "best part" because there is no lemon in the scrub it didn't ittitate or sting my skin- even after shaving!!!

I've made some out of oatmeal, rock salt (the type that you put in a grinder), a little warm water, honey and maybe a drop of either almond extract or vanilla extract. Make it into a paste and use where you like :)

Sea Salt and Olive Oil mixed together. MIx together more sea salt than olive oil so you can use it as a scrub. the olive oil has lots of antioxidants and will leave your skin feeling smooth. And your skin won't smell like olive oil.

You have some wonderful answers regarding this, so here is mine. Depending on your skin type, whatever you use should be finely grated in a processor or grinder; I use the old hand held coffee ones. Oatmeal and almonds are two best bets. Ground the 2 together and mix 1 drop olive oil to it. Use damp fingers when applying and lukewarm to rinse, never hot- it scalds the skin. to naturally enliven the tone, try 1 teaspoon oat flakes to 1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar. Mix in ground almonds, and a pinch of sea salt. Have fun experimenting with herbs, essential oils, and foods- it's less expensive and natural. I've done it for years. Have fun in your endeavor!!!

Oatmeal is a natural exfoliant and moisturizer all in one! Sugar is also a good choice. Mix natural plain oatmeal with honey for a super-moisturixing skin treat. Rinse with warm water. Hot water will dissolve the honey out of your tub.

I also recommend checking out Breezy Beach Wear's new line of freshly sliced bars – Beachy clean! Their bars are terrific and are inexpensive. Their best exfoliating bars include the island sandbar (sanitized sand), apple cider bar (sugar), freshly squeezed lemonade bar (sugar and real lemon slices), and their salt water taffy bar ( with mineral-rich dead sea salts)!
