A Bubble Blowing Activity that will Blow the Kids Away

I bet you haven’t given this blowing bubble activity any thought as a child party activity?

I’m not talking about little kids blowing little bubbles from those little containers – no, I’m talking about blowing HUGE bubbles. I bet you didn’t even know that it was possible? yes, your bigger kids and their friends can have a lot of fun with this blowing bubble activity and what’s more, it’s inexpensive too. especially if you know how to make the right bubble solution and tools.

I’ll give you a few recipes to try out and also a couple of tool ideas. You can have lots of fun experimenting with the mixtures and creating your own original bubble making tools.

There are so many things around you that can be used to make bubbles. Wire hangers bent into different shapes, empty milk containers, string, plastic bowls, or even your bare hands held in the right position. Make a circle with your thumb and index finger or make an even bigger circle using both hands’ thumbs and index fingers.

The really big bubbles need lots of solution which can get quite expensive. It’s therefor a lot more economical to mix your own.

The best detergents to use are Joy and Dawn detergents but you need to experiment to see what works best for you.
You also need either glycerine or white Karo Syrup. This ensures colorful, sturdy bubbles. Glycerine can be bought from most drug stores, but it is expensive. Karo Syrup is available at the grocery store and is less expensive.

Amazingly enough, not any water is suitable Hard water does not work whereas soft water does. Try using your tap water, but if you fail to get good bubbles, try using distilled water.

1 part Dawn Ultra/Joy Ultra : 15 parts distilled/soft water : 0.25 part glycerine/white Karo Syrup

1 part Regular Dawn /Regular Joy : 10 parts distilled/soft water : 0.25 part glycerine/white Karo Syrup

2 Parts Regular Dawn /Regular Joy : 4 parts glycerine : 1 part white Karo Syrup

Most importantly – just have FUN

Bath Time Magic for Kids

Bath time is the perfect opportunity for parents and children to really get to know each other and spend quality time together.

How you view bath time is up to you. many parents choose to treat it as a chore and dread the evenings – as do their children. in many homes, bath time is about as boring as brushing teeth. You, however, can choose to turn bath time into something special, which both you and your child will look forward to every day. for a child, bath time should be a transition between the noisy, busy world of day and the peaceful, cosy world of bed. With very little effort on your part you can make it a magic time for both of you.

How do you inject some magic into bath time? Firstly, by prioritizing it. Fix a time for baths that works around meals, cooking, welcoming home your spouse, making evening telephone calls and relaxing – and establish that time for both you and your child. If the phone rings, leave the answer machine to pick it up. try to do a quick tidy-up with your child before bath time, so that you aren’t faced with a horrible mess afterwards – that way it becomes a transition between day and evening for you too. Make sure that you set aside enough time so that you aren’t rushing and nagging your child to hurry.

Now, to make bath time fun here are some suggestions for adding magic.

Have an assortment of bubble baths suitable for your child. As long as you don’t choose anything too harsh, you don’t have to stick to children’s products, which can have very unnatural scents and colors. Include basic baby bubble bath and some therapeutic bath salts for energetic, sporty days. display your different bottles and make a show of choosing which bubbles you will use each night. perhaps if your child has been helpful tidying up, they can choose?

Two drops of lavender or chamomile essential oil (no more) added to the bath and stirred in well will soothe and calm a fractious child after a long day. for variation, and to be sure that the oil disperses well, you can also add the drops to a cup of milk before adding to the bath. we sometimes use an unscented mild bubble bath with the essential oil.

Candle light for special occasions:

This is obviously only suitable for well-supervised bath times – but kids really do love the atmosphere of a candle lit bath. we would suggest that candles are lit only when the children are in the bath, and are extinguished before they climb out to be completely safe.

Warm towels and pyjamas:

Especially pampering in the winter months, children love to get out of the bath into a warmed towel and pyjamas Little touches make all the difference.

In our household, every Friday night bath time was poetry night. we chose Friday night because we often had other children round to play on a Friday afternoon and that meant that our kids were often over-tired and irritable when it came to bath time. we found suitable poetry in the library and on the internet, stored any printed pages in plastic file folders to keep them splash proof, and tried to introduce an interesting variety of poems to the kids. in reality, we read the same favorite poems over and over again

Rotate bath toys ruthlessly so that there is always something interesting to play with Every so often you can raid the kitchen for suitable implements too – children love playing with sieves, whisks, measuring cups and jugs. our kids would play endlessly with a plastic funnel, plastic bottles (some with holes punched in them) and a couple of plastic jugs. If you don’t want to use your own kitchen equipment, you can find these things very cheaply at garage sales and dollar stores. A plastic colander doubles as an excellent storage basket.

You can buy fun foam shapes in buckets, or you can buy the foam at the craft store and cut your own shapes. perhaps you could change your shapes to match holidays and seasons – flowers for spring and summer, Christmas trees at Christmas, bunnies and eggs at Easter? there are many possible learning activities too: cut pieces to teach colours, shapes, numbers or the alphabet, and practice matching, grouping, sorting, ordering and so on.

Shaving foam sculpture:

Squirt a few large blobs of shaving foam onto the side of bath or into your child’s hands (warn him to keep it away from his eyes) and let his imagination take over

Music and story tapes:

Bath time is a good opportunity to introduce music of all kinds or to listen to a special story on tape or CD.

For a special treat, bring some bubble blowing mixture into the bathroom. Make sure that it doesn’t get into anyone’s eyes

A few drops of food coloring will transform the bath into something exotic try orange or green at Halloween, red or green at Christmas, red for Valentine’s Day and so on. keep the bottle well out of children’s reach

A friend used bath time once a week as language night, teaching her kids French by listening to French tapes and singing French songs. She decorated the room with small colorful posters, made by cutting up old exercise books or printing pages off the net and laminating them, which she stuck around the bath with sticky-tack. any bath toys used that night were objects that could be named in French (plastic vegetables from her child’s shop, plastic boy and girl dolls, and so on).

Finally, remember that in a few short years the whole ritual of bath time will be long gone and your children will be old enough to shower or bath on their own – resisting any attempt from you to interfere have you noticed how eagerly a grandmother runs her grandchild’s bath and splashes and plays for much longer than necessary? If you asked her she would tell you to make the most of bath time while you can. whatever you do now to make bath times magic will be repaid a thousand times in memories for you and your children in the future

Christmas Gifts – Redneck Specialty Christmas Gifts

Rednecks are part of the local establishment, from the Sheriff Jim with the longhorn hood ornament on his Chevy Blazer to the Mayor’s two tone cow truck that carries her around town, Rednecks blaze a trail in the local community. But until you’ve had a truly fashionable redneck Christmas, you just really have not celebrated. Part of that celebration includes original trendy redneck gifts.

Redneck bubble bath -

A handful of pinto beans in a plastic baggie tied with a piece of red cord not only decorates the tree, but serves as an impromptu gift for those elegant ladies who come to visit over the holidays. everyone could use a good bubble bath

Redneck coat hanger -

After deer hunting season a nice rack of horns doesn’t have much to do ‘cept hang around, so if you mount ‘em on a nice wood plaque and hang ‘em on the wall, they make a beautiful coat hanger. Shoot two and have an extra gift to give.

Redneck hood ornament -

Nobody really likes those hood ornaments that come on the old Ford truck, so give that buddy a new ornament. A pair of long horns, or a set of antlers works better than a silver bug catcher.

Often recognized as the perfect gift for newlyweds, this awesome gift of love gets their buns up off the floor. give ‘em 4 family size soup cans and four long boards to frame the bed and you’ve got the handiest dandy bed frame in the south (and room enough for ole Beau to crawl under on those cold nights).

For that prized two holer in the back yard, every redneck wants a pair of bun warmers and the craftiest among you will be able to figure out how to cover two toilet seats with flannel and solve the problem. Flannel is much nicer to sit on when the snow flies on those cold winter mornings.

If you’ve had just about enough of Redneck Christmas Gift ideas, I’ve got another plan that just might suit your fancy a little better. try 12 Days of Christmas at plusfindyourdream.com/Santa/ and get twelve wonderful stocking stuffers you can give to your loved ones, friends, and family (even if they ain’t a redneck in the bunch of ‘em).

Wave & Bubble Home Spas – The Best You Can Get

You may have decided to invest in a home spa because you feel it’s time you took a proper bath. But, hang on, don’t jump at the nearest portablespa because it looks good and the salesman tells you it’s the ultimate portablespa you can ever get.

Think first. Or, leave it to us: We’ve done the research for you:

A portable home spa that employs the ultrasonic wave and the anion bubble technology works best for everyone. and do you know why? Here are some reasons:

Reason # 1: once upon a time there was no civilization, and, it goes without saying, no home spas People used to live in the wilderness and in those times, hot water baths could be enjoyed only in hot springs. Now, water in any hot spring keeps bubbling and these bubbles relieve both mind and body because they have a massage effect on the body. and these very bubbles from the hot springs kept our ancients refreshed and in good spirits. These hot springs acted like thespas of today.

Reason # 2: this is an easy one. Stand near a waterfall and what do you feel: You’ll feel physically and mentally refreshed and relaxed because the waterfall’s energy acts as a natural tranquilizer. When you sit in your home spa, you will get the same feeling

Reason # 3: Ever sniffed around after a downpour or even a drizzle? Chances are that after a rainfall, you’ll smell something very pleasing, something that you may call wet earth or freshly cut grass. that smell is the ozone smell. it improves the rate at which our body tissues absorb and use oxygen. When you soak yourself in a home spa, you are refreshed by a similar ozone smell.

So, essentially, these are the three basic principles that go into the making of a wave and bubble portable home spa: the ultrasonic wave generator creates energy in the water of your home spa and an air generator creates the bubbles that simulate the ozone feel. both these elements when put together in a home spa give birth to a new class of home spas, called the Ultrasonic Wave and O3 Anion portable home spa.

And, we’re in the business of selling these kinds of portable home spas.

Our portable home spas are based on these very principles. We also sell many exotic aromatic bath oils and spa salts. so, go ahead and take your pick. It’s high time you had a proper bath.

CEDIA & Consumer A/V: The Minority Report

This year, like many others, the Audioholics Team embarked on its trail to CEDIA at Indianapolis. More ready than ever, yours truly, decided that this year it would be slightly different. The focus of my CE research and technology would make a drift towards usefulness and practicality, but never excluding the high fidelity arena. not many women could say this, or so the populous says.

On the contraire, they are wrong. according to research studies conducted by several companies, such as Sony, Apple, Nintendo, McIntosh, Pioneer and many others among the Consumer Electronics Market, 50-63% of women have the final say and power for purchase, but for some reason they are not engaged like men in consumer electronics. One of the top 10 sales reps in the second largest Sony selling store in the country, Ms. Molly Gibson, focused on women in the CE world and the percentage of their purchases.  Her data also showed 63% of women have the final input in consumer electronics purchases.. She used this information and made Sony’s sales sky rocket and influenced a new marketing strategy targeted to women and men alike.

See: sixty3percent.com/

This new trend is picking up fast and it showed at CEDIA. not only products have changed, but the companies’ infrastructures have as well. Noticeable was the change in their marketing, PR and Sales personnel. Female members have joined the industry and bring with them a new perspective on selling CE products. . Women in general are the spenders. they are always blamed by their spouse of “spending too much, “and on things they don’t need. Precisely so, this is the exact thing that CE marketing campaigns are taking advantage off.  how do you sell something you don’t need or necessarily want, but you must have it? how do we create desire for technical products?  A meeting with Linda Passaro, VP of Sales & Marketing for McIntosh gave us a wonderful idea of how this is accomplished, especially in the CE Pro arena. She comes from a luxury brand background in watches and diamonds and sees this market at a “rough diamond” that needs to be properly “cut” and “packaged” and “presented” to the buyer in a more emotional fashion that makes it hard to walk away. how does she do it? Presenting the behind the scenes craftsmanship and educating women about the products is the foundation that leads to building appreciation and sales. If women can understand how to use it, in their own terms, and what the product does for her lifestyle with her family and her friends, like entertaining in her home, she will want it and   will buy it. Women are more sensory and care very much about aesthetics so keep in mind design and presentation does matter. Women can appreciate lasting value and are willing to spend more for quality products in fashion and jewelry. Women, like men, always want to get the best deal for quality products.  That’s why the eye appeal is also a main focus on these companies.

At CEDIA, this new look took place without compromising the fidelity and appeal to men. Items such as sounds bars, designer look outdoor speakers, hidden TV Screen that can fit anywhere or disappear with the touch of a button, were a fresh novelty to explore. Home Theater furniture with new designer and sleek looks joined the innovative home integration panels that are easier and visually appealing.. As a woman, I was beyond interested and amazed of how good these items looked and sounded.

Personally, two of the best showcased products at CEDIA 2011, in my eyes, where the new H-PAS PowerBar 235 from Atlantic Technology and the Sharp/Pioneer Elite PRO-X5FD Series LED TV.  The Power Bar elicited a sound that made you forget that no subwoofer was linked to it, all tweeters and small woofers in a proprietary enclosure were producing sound that bellied its physical presence. However, keeping it a manly appealed product, it did have an output to add a separate subwoofer for those wanting deeper and louder bass output. For us ladies, the sleek and smaller look and the capability of this product to either be mounted or simply placed on top of a desk was eye catching. Even more catchy was the price; a product in this league would usually cost around $900-$1000 but its true price was way lower, more around the $600-$700. The Atlantic Technology Soundbar was like a piece of art and furniture all in one with a sound that made you forget where you were and what you were listening to.  Even better, it has the capability to perform in either 3.1 or 5.1. What does this mean? You can add a feel of more speakers around you with each one allowing for further detailing of the sounds and differentiation of each. For example, you can distinctly discern a bird chirping from the sound of wind and leaves rustling against it.  Simply put, real sound while saving lots of space.

Pioneer Elite, (in conjunction with Sharp), previewed their new LED TV, which I must say really impressed me. Prior to the demo, I mistakenly thought the TV set was turned off the whole time.  It look as dark as it could be. The only thing that made you realize it was on was the blue light indicator on the front panel. The quality of the display light functions (sharpness and brightness) was the best I’ve seen so far. The black levels remained truly black and crisp, especially when they showed their films on it. beautiful fireworks and landscapes, it really looked like you were there watching it all. The color crispness and details were exemplary, and it almost made you feel like you could touch the dew on the flowers.  This was definitely something I would purchase, especially for the price. Guessing it would be too pricey to purchase, we were wrong.  That made it even more appealing since products in this category usually range at about $10k, but it retails for about half that price and comes with FREE human tech support.

But this in not yet over, CEDIA this year had a special change to their Future Pavilion. This year their focus not only appealed to women, but a more general Lifestyles approach took place. What do we mean by Lifestyles? Well a brief overview of this approach is needed. Noting the changes in consumer’s trends and wants, the CE market realized that their potential buyers wanted to improve not only the CE products, but their health, environment, well being, family life and their pockets. New technology arose that targets these needs. There are many families, not only women, which are concerned with the change in the economy, climate change and family quality life as a whole due to our busy lifestyles. having a product that can travel with you and accommodate your “instant needs” is always a plus and a main reason for wanting to own it, especially if it doesn’t break your wallet. For example, not many of us get a chance to relax as much as we would like, especially those single parents, or the stay at home spouse. No matter what we do, we need that extra time to unwind. seeing this need, Séura, a TV illumination company, who actually makes their products in the U.S., specializes in enhanced vanishing television sets. they have bridge the gap between elegance and technology. they want luxurious, relaxing and entertainment driven spaces to attract the everyday consumer.  their Lumination Collection lighted mirror series was debuted at CEDIA and it attracted lots of attention. Personally, the ambience of the LED lights with variable design options made you want to jump in a nice warm bubble bath while sipping a glass of  Champagne, watching your favorite movie or TV show right on it. It offers a TV screen capability of 10” – 19” LCD depending on the product design.  Nothing better than a romantic and relaxing setting in a feel of true tranquility and peaceful ambience; even better, the price tag is not a killer with a range of $3500- $5400 depending on the design product or if the purchaser decides to go all out and customize.  Check out Suera.com for more info on their product offerings.

Several experiences took place in CEDIA this year that made you feel different. A happy glow prevailed with many exhibitors and attendees that were lacking in the previous years since the recession.  A new boom and surge of technology targeted not only women but families as a whole in the new Lifestyles approach. The products mentioned were just a few that showed innovation, customization and appeal that was not available until recently. The Green Foot print is one that had an increased feature in the Future Pavilion and the show overall. Hoping to help the consumer and attract more public, CEDIA certainly had it all.  It was the place to be.

Homemade Bubble Bath – Wash Your Cares Away

Homemade bubble bath is a wonderful product, and very easy to make. It there anything as relaxing and decadent than reclining in a delightful, bubbly hot bath? there are very few things in life that are so enjoyable, refreshing and inexpensive as soaking your cares away in the bath. After a stressful day, a luxurious bath is just what you need.

Homemade bubble bath allows you to avoid the horrible, harsh chemical ingredients of commercial bubble bath products. Unfortunately, these same chemicals are added to children’s bath products as well. By making your own bath and skin care items, you can avoid exposing yourself and your children to these chemicals. At the same time, making skin and bath products allows you to customize your experience. By choosing your own custom essential oils and carrier oils such as coconut and olive oils, you can make custom scented and highly moisturizing products.

Homemade bubble bath saves money as well. you can make a great bubble bath using inexpensive liquid castile soap, or save even more money by grating a bar of the same soap to use in your recipes. Liquid glycerin, a by-product of soap manufacturing, is another inexpensive addition to bubble bath that helps moisturize and soften your skin. If you prefer your glycerin to be from vegetable sources only, that particular kind of glycerin is available. It is a bit more expensive than the glycerin typically found in grocery and drug stores, and is sometimes more difficult to find. If you have any difficulty finding any ingredients for spa products, you can generally find them online very easily.

Homemade bubble bath should be used quickly, as it doesn’t contain the preservatives of commercial products. It should be stored in an unbreakable bottle, out of reach of children, as they can get easily carried away with the amount of this soap that they add to their baths. you don’t want to end up with a bathroom that looks like the scene of a comedy movie from an excess of bubbles Kids also do strange things like drink things that they are not supposed to, so always err on the side of caution.

Homemade bubble bath also makes a thoughtful gift. In fact, you can make up a nice, inexpensive spa gift basket with this product, some homemade bath salts and homemade bath bombs for just a few dollars. you can also make bath teas to include, which are lovely bunches of herbs and tea put into large tea bags or tied up in cheesecloth. It’s so much fun, and so easy to make spa products like these? Don’t you want to try?

Linking Generations: How to Activate Your Black Father Power…

(ThyBlackMan.com) I returned home after another long day anticipating a good meal and then a few hours of R & R in front of the TV. but when I opened the door, evidence to the contrary was obvious: a pink coat, a small, glittery shoe, and then a shriek of delight as my granddaughter sped to greet me. Suddenly I was rejuvenated.

After a lively dinner, we set off on one of our adventures. We watched ants, talked to cats, played in the park and watched the sunset spray the Colorado mountains orange and rose. As we walked back toward the house, she got  quiet, and I got philosophical. I thought, “What better way to spend the end of this day—or any day?” our lives as grandfathers can be noble, purposeful and even, I would say, vital.

TAKE PRIDE IN BEING A GRANDFATHER

Grandfathers bring some unique characteristics that children need. First, we can provide strength and stability at a time when our children are busy making adjustments and figuring out their new roles, and a time when our wives may be experiencing the hormonal chaos that often comes with that stage of life.

We are also models of a healthy, grown-up male (a child doesn’t always think of his or her father as male—he’s “Daddy“). Little boys need to see what a responsible, loving male acts like, and little girls need to learn that not all males are rowdy and rambunctious, and that they can relate with the opposite sex.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR PERSPECTIVE

Compared to fathers, our personalities and egos are much less closely wrapped up in the child’s performance. While fathers are in the bleachers fighting the temptation to scream at the ump or chide the coach, we can say, “Hey, it’s just a ball game. I’m just glad you enjoy playing and that I got to see you play.” We’ve seen how kids overcome setbacks, and we’re less likely to blow things out of proportion. We’re free to express love unconditionally; grandchildren can fail and still save face.

FOSTER – DON’T FRUSTRATE – YOUNG PARENTS

One of our most challenging jobs is to let our children be their style of parent. We have to step back and trust that the knowledge or discernment that we modeled will be there, buried somewhere in their subconscious, when they need it. Trying to “raise” them again as parents will only cause friction and resentment.

Showing them respect as parents will earn us opportunities to make suggestions when they realize they need them, but unless there is some developmental problem that they’re overlooking, it’s best to let young parents learn on their own. We weren’t A+ parents either, so if our kids are C to B+ parents and they’re not dysfunctional, we need to take a back seat and become cheerleaders, even if we don’t always agree with them.

MAINTAIN A SENSE OF FAMILY

I want my grandkids to know their aunts and uncles, to see that strong marriages run in the family, and to watch generations relating to each other. some grandfathers go too far and place guilt trips: “if you want to be part of this family, you get those kids here by Christmas Eve.” Others, in an effort to avoid making demands, communicate apathy: “Well, stop by when you can.”

There is a happy medium. let them know their presence is important and still be flexible: “We’d like to have everyone together during Christmas break. We’ll make the plans and cook the turkey, but let’s make sure and get together. when can you make it?” Show the entire clan-including grandchildren-that in your family, togetherness is important.

SPEND INDIVIDUAL TIME WITH EACH GRANDCHILD

Just like with fathering, in-depth relationships are built during time alone with each child. Sometimes we have to trust that our values will be transmitted through the generations, but we also have opportunities to do it directly. when I’m alone with one of my granddaughters, that’s when she’s most “herself.” There’s no competition with her sister, and no consequences to worry about from her parents. That allows her to listen better and ask more thoughtful questions. when it’s just the two of us, she’s much more open to learn.

And, of course, individual time with grandchildren is rewarding in itself. A fool-proof method for resurrecting new hope in a discouraged, pessimistic heart is to allot special time to play with children. Little creatures who have their eyes fixed on tomorrow can make a gnarled veteran of life’s wars forget the pain of past failures and believe in the future again.

Decorate Your Bathroom With Relaxation As the Main Theme

If you enjoy bathing and it is one of the relaxing things you do in your day then there are a few accessories you can include in your bathroom to ensure that bathing becomes the most relaxing part of your day.

First of all consider your bathtub. There has been a lot of hype with bigger sized bathtubs but I find that for relaxing they are not really the best option. Because of the size you find that you are forever trying to stay afloat to keep yourself from drowning. By all means have a bigger sized bathtub in one of your bathrooms if you have more than one bathroom but if you just have one it is advisable that you have a regular size bathtub in there. Apart from the water consumption, as I mentioned above it is a better tub to relax in as your feet hold you firmly above water as they can reach the end of the bath. just make sure it is a size where you can just stretch out fully.

Having candles in a bathroom can add a very relaxing atmosphere to your bathing experience. I have not seen this idea anywhere else but I have a candle chandelier in my bathroom which hangs just above my bath. It has eight round holders for candles and I put in the short candles which are about five centimeters high and have quite a thick base which is taking the safety factor into consideration.

Also make sure you have a wide variety of oils and bubble baths. On a relaxation consideration just the nice smelling oils are enough to get you into the right frame of mind to relax. considering the decoration theme have a basket close by which holds all of your oils and bubble baths and this adds a wonderful personal tough to your bathroom. On a practical level using bubble baths in your bath water ensures that you do not have to spend much time cleaning the bathtub after a bath as the bubble bath prevents dirt from sticking to the sides of the bathtub.

Try to have mirrors in your bathroom. the glow of the candles is reflected in the mirrors and creates a further relaxing atmosphere. And mirrors in a bathroom, which are usually small rooms in a house, make the room look bigger.for your towels try and get really big and fluffy towels. I personally prefer white towels as they represent cleanliness and remind me of spas and you can quickly spot if they are not clean anymore. If you have the opportunity then box in your bathtub so you have some space on the side to set a glass of wine, your book or even your favorite snacks so you can further enhance your relaxing bath time experience.

Do not forget the ever so important bathroom chair. choose one which suits your bathroom dcor and which is comfortable. This will allow you to sit comfortably while you put on your body lotions after having a relaxing bath. make sure that the fabric is suitable for the humidity of a bathroom.

And a last tip would be to make sure that everything in your bathroom has a spot for it. have storage for the items which do not look nice in the open and which are difficult to clean if they collect dust. Razors and other paraphernalia do not look nice and would be better put away in bathroom storage drawers or cabinets. This is also a safety factor if there are young children in the home. Basically only have out in the open the beautiful items which enhance the beauty of your bathroom.

Access the web for other ideas and home tips to ensure that you have the most relaxing bathroom for your needs and requirements.
