Does wearing lipstick darken lips?

Today, I saw this thing that i thought was chapstick.
My mom said it was lip stick, but on the label it said lip shimmer.
She refused to buy it because she said wearing lipstick will make your lips darker.
1. Does that really happen?
2. will this product darken my lips or anything?
I really like the color and it goes well with my skin tone.

i bought it on accident & it was basically chapstick but really shimmery. i hated it hahah. i didnt make my lips darker, just really glittery..

Angel is classified as a refreshing, oriental, woody fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of vanilla, sandalwood, and patchouli. L’Heure Bleue is a blend of roses, iris, and jasmine. L’Heure Bleue is most certainly a feminine, timeless stunner.
