Is there anything that defies the principal of non contradiction?

the law of non-contradiction says that no thing can be and not be in the same way at the same time. Is there any time where that is not true?

There are some interpretations of quantum mechanics that seem to defy the law of non contradiction, Schrodinger's cat, for example. but, this is a special case that does not translate to the macro world. It may be that, as Putnam has suggested, propositional logic needs to be adjusted to account for these apparent discrepancies.

Personally, I think that the apparent violations of the law of non contradiction are really apparent and not actual, but I don't understand quantum mechanics.

The law of non contradiction is a law in Sentential Logic. The operator (or) can not be substituted with the operator (and) in statements with a T=True value. if operator (or) is substituted for operator (and) the statement is necessarily false.

e.g. a person is either awake or asleep. The law of the excluded middle follows in that a person cannot be awake (and) asleep.

In Quantum Logic we can substitute the logical operator (or) with (and)…..and the statement will still be true.

QL Statement = Elementary particles that exist in one place can exist in another place. one particle can exist in two places.

I think it's really confusing and almost odd that anyone who is like Aristotle would consider it relevant. but it is. a is B and a is not B are mutually exclusive. a can be B at one time but not another, and a can be partly B, and partly not B at the same time.
It also appears in texts from India, which on the other hand doesn't surprise me.
