Think All Trade Show Stand Designers Are Alike? Guess Again

Any company that has embraced marketing conventions as an advertorial resource understands the many benefits this promotional medium delivers. Offering businesses in any industry an opportunity to meet face to face with a giant swell of potential clientele conveniently congregating in one venue is just the tip of the iceberg. Marketing events and expos also allow companies to size up competitive influences, announce new services and products, further brand recognition and network strategically throughout the event, making the choice to participate an easy one.

Sourcing A Trade Show Display Vendor: an important Business Decision

While deciding to attend a marketing function can be an easy decision, the task of selecting a professional trade show stand designer can be slightly more challenging. Overwhelmed with vendors claiming to be both professional and experts in the industry, companies new to the process can easily get overwhelmed and fail to perform due diligence during the selection process. However, it’s important to remember that purchasing trade show displays and banner stands is not only a costly investment, but is also a business’ first visual impression on the attendees of any function. Partnering with a professional and reputable trade show stand designer is crucial to the overall success of a company’s marketing event venture.

Know what to Look for In A Trade Show Stand Provider

When sourcing a qualified provider of trade show displays and banner stands there are a few key services and features to keep in mind. First, look for a business that has an established history in the design field. This will help ensure that the selected company isn’t a fly by night operation and has the resources and tenure necessary to deliver whatever is required during the professional relationship.

Another key component to choosing a firm to team with is whether they understand your company’s marketing vision and objectives and are prepared to provide a customized exhibit solution based on these goals. Remember, your selected exhibit designer’s primary goal is to help your organization stand out in the crowd at the next promotional function. Simply accepting a standard, cookie cutter layout from a vendor simply won’t do.

Make sure your chosen firm has solid experience with various graphic applications, current market trends for product presentation and specific traits of various venues for optimal booth customization to guarantee you’ll receive a final product that will help grab the attention of every attendee as they walk by. A great way to see how well a vendor grasps these concepts is to ask to see some of their finished products. seeing actual trade show displays live is an excellent way to determine your overall impression of their workmanship.

Finally, only work with a trade show stand designer that puts all the details in writing. Ask for an itemized contract listing everything discussed and agreed upon with project price included. Putting everything down on paper means that the vendor is accountable for deliverables and will ensure that there are no surprise costs that arise during the process and help keep the overall experience a positive one.

Laptops and Gadgets – The Blue-Ray Way

Blue-ray, launched mid 2006, offers consumers an opportunity to watch higher definition movies and gives the movie enthusiast more reason to stay in all weekend tucked in with a bag of chips and the laptop.

Currently available as standalone drives or as drives on laptops and computers, Blue-ray is offered by over 200 of the world’s top consumer electronic companies. Dell for example, one of the first companies to become involved with Blue-ray, offers a laptop and desktop option. Blue-ray gets its name from the blue-violet laser used to read and write data on a disc. this laser is shorter than the red laser that DVD players use and is more precise, allowing data to be stored more tightly – five times as much as a DVD allows. Blue-ray is old news to the techno junkie, but we’ve by no means heard the last of it, and there are some interesting new developments in the pipeline.

Panasonic’s DMP-B15 new portable Blue-ray player, launched this year, is the first portable Blue-ray player. the resolution is lower than what Blue-ray discs offer, but it is still markedly higher than that of a DVD player. Although not visually all that appealing, it is perfect for the seasoned traveller who enjoys the escapism that high-definition movies offer. it can also be connected to a big screen TV for those times spent at home.

The Blue-Ray Akoya 8610 Medion is the answer for you if you are looking for a home entertainment system come laptop – and it’s reasonably priced. You’ll forget it’s a computer when making use of the high resolution (1,680 x 945), 18.4-inch screen and Dolby surround sound system that is included.

Sony is on top of its game, and will be releasing the Vaio AR Premium in mid-January 2009. this notebook with 17 inch screen also has futuristic multimeda features, sporting the capacity to record high definition camcorder content to Blu-ray discs.

In a move to bring Blu-Ray to more households, Vizio is releasing the VBR100 Blu-ray player in the US which will cost under $200. Although it only has the bare basics, the price is bound to appeal to cash-strapped consumers.

Blue-ray is innovation in visual electronics at its best, revolutionising data storage and adding an extra dimension to visual media. Pioneer recently pushed the envelope even further, developing a prototype disk that can hold a phenomenal 500GB on 20 layers: a promise that we are just experiencing the tip of the Blue-ray ice-berg.

Windshields and More – Your Guide to Boat Windshields

Boat windshields are thick and thermal-coated glass windows installed in front of boats, used in protecting passengers from the wind, water, and the sun’s harmful UV rays. however, boat windshields are not permanent. They may break when met with powerful impacts like those made by solid rocks, tidal waves, and icebergs.

The boat windshield you choose just depends on what you prefer. Some of the boat windshields available to you, though, are the flat glass and curved glass types. A flat glass boat windshield is preferred by a lot of boaters because it offers clearer views of the water as it does not distort perspectives. A curved glass boat windshield, on the other hand, features strategic curves. Most flat glass types use aircraft-grade glass, while the curved glass types rely on fiberglass. Either way, both types are very durable.

Here are a few things for you to consider when shopping around for a boat windshield:

Wipers – much like your car, a boat’s windshield needs to deflect rain or water and other objects that may get stuck. As such, you’re going to need heavy-duty windshield wipers to get the job done.

Tension areas – Look for a boat windshield that comes with heavy-duty pellets in the tension areas. In particular, avoid those that use nickel sulfide pellets since those can crack the windshield’s molten glass then there is contact with stainless steel.

Compression layer – It’s natural for small cracks get bigger over time. however, opting for a boat windshield that has a thick-enough compression layer surface will prevent small cracks from worsening. the longer cracks don’t show, the longer you won’t have to change your windshield which saves you money.

A quick tip

Take the time to clean your boat’s windshields. Regular maintenance not only ensures that your windshields are always looking great but that they also last longer even under the worst conditions.

Easy Ways to Cut Calories at Christmas – Stay Slim and Enjoy a Guilt-Free Christmas Dinner

It’s nearly Christmas and there are food and drink temptations everywhere. You can easily avoid the high-calorie foods if you have delicious low-calorie alternatives at hand. That way you can enjoy your Christmas dinner without noticing all the calories you have dropped. Follow our diet tips for your Christmas dinner, (and most of us will be tucking into more than one), to help keep you slim and festive.

Tips to Reduce the Calories of Christmas Dinner

Choose a low-fat starter, like a prawn cocktail made with extra light mayonnaise and a touch of chilli sauce, and lots of lovely crisp iceberg lettuce. Add a squeeze of lime juice before serving – all this is only around 65 calories. Or try refreshing melon and parma ham – only around 40 calories.

Soup is another good low-cal starter and is filling, so will prevent you from overeating. choose a low calorie tomato based soup rather than a thick creamy one – around 65 calories for home-made Tomato and Basil soup,as opposed to creamy Leek and Potato at 180 calories

Cook your turkey or joint on a rack/grill inside your cooking pan, as this will let the fat run free and prevent your meat from absorbing it again.

When you take the meat out of the pan, retain the juices to make a delicious gravy, but be sure to strain the fat off the top first. Making your own gravy will cut the calories down compared to using a prepared gravy. Add flavour with a stock cube and thicken, if needed, with a little cornflour.

Try and resist eating the turkey skin as it is high in fat and calories. The good news is that turkey meat is low fat, full of protein and delicious.

Sausagemeat stuffing is high in calories so either mix half and half with a sage and onion breadcrumb stuffing, or opt for a delicious chestnut alternative.

Use fat-reduced sausages and cut them in half lengthways, and wrap a rasher of lean back bacon, also cut in half, around each sausage section. This is a good way to half your calories as you won’t notice when it is on your plate with everything else. Cook on a non-stick baking pan for 15-20 minutes in an oven at 200C/400F/Gas Mark 6, until golden brown.

Have a big jug of iced water with a slice of lemon on the table, and you’ll be surprised how quickly it needs refilling. it will help you to make your wine, if you are drinking it, to last longer and help hydrate you too.

Don’t hold back on the vegetables as they are nutritious, filling, low calorie and good for you.

Choose Cranberry Sauce instead of calorific Bread Sauce – full of antioxidants and vitamins too.

Christmas pudding has a serious amount of calories, so if you can resist instead opt for a portion of trifle or fruit pavlova. if you do treat yourself to xmas pud stay away from brandy butter, and try low-fat custard instead.

If you succumb to the temptation of a mince pie, throw off the pastry lid and save yourself 60 calories – it will taste just as good

Don’t beat yourself up if you do eat more than you intended – it’s only once a year, and there is always tomorrow to put things right. A bracing winter walk after your Christmas dinner is a good start and fun too

Have a Happy Christmas

Doesn't Iceberg B15 pretty well prove Global Warming?

I mean it's the size of Luxembourg, 17X67 miles in size. 3100 square miles.

I don't think that anyone disagrees that the earth is heating up. It's the cause that is in contention. of course, billions of us filling our skies with toxins couldn't possibly be a cause to global warming. :-)

im cold right now. the earth needs to warm up a little more.

No. Ice bergs are natural manifestations of the way glaciers move and form. Glaciers, build up, migrate to the sea and break up and form ice bergs. Ice that forms on the sea, also is prone to periodic breaking. it is a natural process. Everytime a big ice berg breaks off, alarmist say "see, it must be global warming" Ice bergs will break free if it is cold or warm.

The earth will get hotter. as the sun runs out of fuel it gets hotter. in 100 million years the sun will be to hot for life on earth

Most people agree with global warming, but there is hope for us yet, there was more ice at the north pole this year than last year.
I'm not saying that I don't care about global warming, I'm just pointing out some good news.

NO ! U may use the black cat that would prove GW> WRONG >> GW ia a scam for Gore to make money. I could explain to U that the thermometers of 100 years ago were not that accurate. there have always been large ice burgs . the ice next to the ground melts due to the weight.

It proves that it's warmer now than it was during the Little Ice Age.

In the 1300s the Pope stopped sending missions to Greenland because of the drift ice in the North Atlantic.

But the IPCC says that there was no warm period that had begun in the 900s.

Popular science or another similar magazine some years back suggested we should mine icebergs to provide water for regions that need it. Bergs have been a navigation problem for thousands of years and are very well documented for at least 2,000 years!

When the coast goes under, what will all the naysayers have to say then?

What does the water in icebergs have to do with the water cycle?

I can't get this quetion. pleaz help i need to go to bed very soon.

Well the ice is either melting or sublimating, causing it to eventually evaporate into the atmosphere. after that clouds are formed and then it rains or snows. I am sorry that is probably wrong I just took a stab at it.

when the iceberg melts then a whole bunch of new water rushes to a new place and depending on how big it is it could flood certain places

They are a huge source of freshwater, and since it's frozen, it's sort of under lock and key.

If bergs and glaciers start to melt, they flood the seas with fresh water, which decreases the salinity of sea water. That becomes a problem because some sea creatures cannot live in diluted sea water, and also because it allows the temperature of the oceans to drop. The reason the oceans don't freeze is because of the salt in them–the coldest temperatures hover around freezing, but they don't actually freeze over, except at the poles, where there are ice caps, and even those don't go down to the sea bed, they only float on top of the salinated water.

No matter how you slice it, releasing the freshwater from the bergs and glaciers causes problems for the oceans. Even if it all evaporates and ends up as rain, it still ends up in the ocean, because that's where runoff eventually ends up. it throws the delicate balance off if too much fresh water gets into the equation.

The water cycle is dead easy. Water comes off the land with impurities in it, especially salt. when water evaporates it leaves the impurities behind in the oceans of the world making them more impure, specifically the oceans become more salty. so percentage wise, oceanic water becomes more impure.

But when the water comes down in the form of percipitation, it comes down in a pure state. Iceburgs are formed NOT from oceanic water but from water that falls from the sky or percipitation, so they are fairly pure. Remember that in this cycle pure water freezes at a higher temperature than salt water, it has to be a lot colder for salt water to freeze which is why we put salt on sidewalks and roadways.

So iceburgs are made up of far more water from percipitation than ocean water because the percipitation freezes first. when this frozen polar water comes into contact with the oceans, the oceans are salty and the iceburgs begin to melt.

So when iceburgs melt the pure water dilutes the impure water and the percentage of impurties goes down again.

That's it in a nut-shell. However, the cycle is an open cycle and a whole bunch of other factors come into play. I think if you said the above and add that there are other factors, such as changes in wind patterns and the jet-stream which can change where percepitation falls, that will be enough.

Integrity – The Iceberg Analogy – Below the Waterline (Part 2)

What is integrity? Integrity is like an iceberg. We can easily see the visible part above the waterline, but the larger part is below the water. Above the waterline ethics are usually very clear and written. Violating codified ethics can get you fired, fined, or thrown into jail.

While there are few grey areas above the waterline, integrity goes much deeper. What’s under the waterline is grey and not immediately visible. there are no laws, bibles, regulations, or company ethics guides to lean on. You won’t go to jail, you probably won’t get fired or maybe even promoted for compromising your integrity. But colliding with the invisible part of an iceberg can sink a person, an organization, or an entire nation. the Titanic sank because the iceberg popped rivets far below the waterline that held together the hull plates of the unsinkable liner.

Integrity and intellectual honesty ultimately determine your value as a human being, the trust of society, friends, and family. the cultural integrity of an organization is a strong factor in its long-term results. Success requires vision, being in the right business at the right time, innovation, resources, and a good bit of luck. But without integrity the right ideas can’t flourish. without integrity, the wrong initiatives are funded for political reasons when it is impossible to have an intellectually honest discussion.

One of the telltale signs of an organization that has lost its integrity is forecasting. I have observed organizations that quite frequently missed their projections by a wide margin. Good planners often develop plans with optimistic and pessimistic assumptions, and then run the business with a realistic plan somewhere in between. But some organizations tend to present an overly optimist plan to their stakeholders. unless everything goes perfectly the company is forced to announce missed earnings and usually layoffs. I have observed the most glaringly optimistic hockey stick forecasts in declining businesses, projecting a bright future where none exists, to postpone the inevitable downsizing. the same is true in government, in this case to protect positions and budgets for services that are no longer important.

Another symptom of compromised integrity is evident in new product development. Product programs are launched with unrealistic cost targets and revenue projections until make or buy decisions are settled in favor of make. by that time, the company invested too much to abandon the project.

Missed forecasts are often the result of a culture that lacks integrity, from the individual sales rep and product manager up to the CEO. everybody knows that the projections are unrealistic, but over-commits to obtain funding or save their job for another quarter. This culture avoids fessing up until the CEO has to announce quarterly results, and then the stock takes a dive.

Integrity does not mean that forecasting is an accurate science, or that intellectually honest organizations never miss their projections. A trustworthy company can miss their objectives, and that presents an opportunity for the smart investor. the key question to ask is whether the underperformance was caused by one time, unpredictable and temporary market conditions, the delay (not loss) of a key deal, weather – or due to more fundamental problems. Investors may accept a quarterly earnings shortfall, or an extraordinary charge, and the stock recovers, but the market is astute enough to sense a downward spiral.

The downward spiral of many companies can be linked to a culture of compromised integrity. It starts with unrealistic projections leading to disappointing results, R&D cuts, layoffs, low morale, the avoidance of innovative risk taking, outdated product lines, the loss of key talent, more layoffs. the cycle continues.

In the downward spiral, organizations reward compliance rather than promoting an open dialog that is needed for success. A sign of trouble is frequent reorganizations, designed to show activity to stakeholders, but without a clear vision on how the change deploys resources and talent more effectively and makes the company more competitive. In survival mode, weak management often sidelines the brightest talent that may challenge the status quo. These reorganizations accomplish nothing more than rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Without a radical change in management and culture, the slow and agonizing downward spiral caused by a missing integrity culture can be more damaging than above the waterline offenses. Changing top management alone usually does not solve the problem. A low integrity culture that has spread throughout the organization is like cancer. It requires radical and painful surgery and a long recovery.

When caught, organizations that violated laws usually end up in bankruptcy, or pay the fines and recover. But companies who lack integrity, especially technology companies who rely on innovation, seldom recover. they are sold at bargain prices, dismantled, or shrink to a fraction of their former value.

The most admired and successful companies are in a similar but positive cycle: Apple, Google, Berkshire Hathaway, and Amazon. Google gave up market share and potentially billions in revenue to avoid censorship in China but the stock is at near record heights. Winners attract the best minds, who seek not just big paychecks and stock options, but belonging to an organization they can be proud of.

Is the restaurant at Icebergs at Bondi Beach any good? What sort of food and how expensive?

I think it is overrated and expensive, but the view is nice and it is funky and the food is okay.

It is good to try it, then see how much you really like it compared to your other haunts.

Healthy, Delicious, and Easy Vegetarian Cobb Salad Recipe

Below is a simple and delicious recipe for Cobb salad. Notice it is vegetarian – a healthier alternative to the traditional Cobb salad as the chicken, bacon, iceberg lettuce, and blue cheese have been omitted and replaced with more nutrient dense power foods such as avocado and flax meal. if you would like to increase the protein content, you can add sliced grilled chicken breast back to the ingredient list.

Vegetarian Cobb Salad: (Serves 2)

2 eggs, hard boiled, chopped 1 head romaine lettuce, coarsely chopped 1 bunch watercress, ends trimmed and coarsely chopped 1/2 avocado, cubed 1/2 cup grape tomatoes, halved 2 tablespoons pitted Kalamata olives, chopped 1/4 chopped (2 ounces) goat cheese, crumbled (you can also substitute feta cheese) 1 tablespoon flax meal

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil 1 1/2 tablespoons while balsamic vinegar (or regular balsamic) 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard 1/2 tablespoon fresh thyme

1. place 2 eggs in small pot w/ cold water. Bring to a low boil for 10 minutes. Remove and cool. 2. in a small bowl, combine dressing ingredients and mix well. 3. Thoroughly wash and dry greens (pat with paper towel or use salad spinner). place in large salad bowl and toss with 1/2 of dressing. Add remaining ingredients (including egg), and drizzle with remaining dressing.

Be sure to use organic vegetables in this salad. Organic produce are much healthier for you because they contain more nutrients, vitamins, and minerals than commercially grown vegetables. Organic produce tend to be fresher, tastier, and will also be free of harmful pesticides and herbicides.

Has any other boat hit an iceberg like the titanic?

Im doing a report about the titanic and would like to know if any other boat has either sunk that was bigger or same size of titantic, how and if any other boat has sunk via an iceberg, thanks :)

Not all ships that hit icebergs sink. just watch the news, A ship just hit an iceberg almost exactly where the Titanic sank. It limped safely back to harbor. The trip back took 30 hours.
Other ships have been sunk by icebergs, the only example that comes to mind is the Explorer in 2007, I believe everybody was rescued.
The Titanic is the largest iceberg caused sinking.

Nope, thanks to Al Gore you don't have to worry about the evil conspiracy of icebergs attacking innocent boats anymore.

Not sure of the exact size but in 2007 a cruise ship hit an iceberg & sunk. It was carrying over 150 passengers. Named MS Explorer – I think.

No after the Titanic they developed an Iceberg Alert Program!
Poor Leonardo Di Caprio!
=P

Heard about the 2007 ship.that was off the Alaskan coast. It hit a rock shelf not a iceberg

yes but they didnt sink or have 2 people in love on them
