Issey Miyake – Fashion Technology

Born on April 22, 1938 in Hiroshima, Japan, designer Issey Miyake is known for creating an eclectic mix of Eastern culture and the textile technology of the West. this blend stems from his early exposure to the Western culture during the World War II American occupation in Japan, when he was just aged 10. He is noted to be one of the most innovative fashion designers and the first Asian to be renowned globally as such.

He studied and majored in graphic design at the Tama Art University in Tokyo. as a student he was influenced by Richard Avendon, Hiro and Andy Warhol. He moved to Paris in 1964 where he learned haute couture by working as a design assistant for Guy Laroche and Givenchy. He moved to new York and created designs for Geoffrey Beene, until he finally returned to Tokyo in 1970 where he founded the Miyake Design Studio. He started to incorporate designs with Japanese elements, such as the kimono and sashiko coat.

In 1978, he published a book called East Meets West – a picturesque collection of his greatest designs. a year after, he opened a company in France, followed by another in the States in 1982. In the late 80s, Miyake tried to experiment with a technique that would let fabrics stay permanently pleated yet allow flexibility for the consumer. this turns out to be one of the most popular lines of Miyake’s and is aptly named Pleats please. He collaborated with ballet productions such as the Loss of Small Detail and Garden in the Setting for the costumes. He also launched another popular line, A-POC (A Piece of Cloth), which showcases single, ready-to-wear clothes.

In 1992, Miyake’s first fragrance, L’eau d’Issey (French for Issey’s water) for women was launched. it was succeeded by L’eau d’Issey Pour Homme (for men) in 1994. In 1999 he temporarily turned over his collection to work associate Naoki Takizawa to re-focus on research. In 2004 he introduced yet another perfume, L’eau Bleue d’Issey Pour Homme, but production was recently cut off because of low sales.

Miyake received numerous recognitions for his creative ingenuity. In 2001 he was awarded by Toronto for being a world leader in innovative fashion. Then, he won the Arts and Philosophy Prize in Kyoto in 2006. He was also featured in an exhibit hosted by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London entitled What is Radical Fashion.

Today, Issey Miyake has yet another new line of fragrance in the market, L’eau d’Issey Pour Homme Intense and has several stores in Tokyo, Paris, London and new York, where his flagship store in Tribeca showcases his complete collection. Aside from clothing and perfume, his label also features hosiery and home furnishings, a proof that Issey Miyake does not limit himself to the niche of a fashion designer, but also lends himself to life and art.

Guy Laroche – A Gracious Designer

Guy Laroche is the name of the French fashion designer who founded the company Guy Laroche. His career actually began in millinery, or in the design and creation of women’s hats and the accompanying trimming. In fact, another famous fashion designer, Coco Chanel, began as a milliner as well.

Laroche went to work for Jean Desses in 1949, one of the world’s leading fashion designers at the time. Laroche became his assistant, and inevitably began to pick up a lot of fashion knowledge and experience from his renowned master. a few years later, in 1955, Laroche went off to the United States to investigate and learn from some of the new manufacturing methods for ready to wear apparel in the country.

In 1961 he managed to open a larger second boutique, also in Paris, and took the opportunity to introduce a new ready to wear line of clothing. Laroche’s business sense and creative fashion designs quickly led him to success in the industry, and his company to continue expanding.

The Laroche brand became available internationally through licensed goods. the company’s products found a great reception in the Middle East. Many items such as hats, ties, bags, nightwear, lingerie, jersey knits, and scarves were exported and made available in hundreds of boutiques all over the globe.

Laroche’s first perfume, Fidji, was designed for women and was introduced in 1966. over the years, Laroche also created other fragrances, such as Jai Ose in 1977, Drakkar Noir (an aftershave for men) in 1982, Clandestine in 1986 and Horizon men’s cologne in 1993.

Eventually, though, Guy Laroche sold many shares to L’Oral and Bernard Cornfeld. this led to the perfumery portion of the company to be wholly controlled by L’Oral. Later, the company itself was acquired by Bic, the French razor and pen manufacturer.

For optimal functioning throughout the day, the average adult needs between seven to nine hours sleep a night. according to the NSF, the American adult population functions on about six and a half hours of sleep per night.

For some, lack of sleep is not a choice, but a condition. Millions of Americans suffer from insomnia. according to the NSF, a third of Americans are using over the counter or prescription sleep aids at night. If you suffer from insomnia, here are a few tips to help you get some shut eye:
Pray before bedtime. The bible tells us to Cast your burden upon the Lord. Don’t go to bed with a heavy load. Give it to God. Remember Joy comes in the morning
Avoid caffeinated food and beverages like coffee, teas, soft drinks and chocolate 3 to 4 hours before bedtime.
Exercise regularly, but complete your workout at least three hours before bedtime. Keep your body calm.

Develop a bedtime ritual. taking a warm bath 90 minutes before bedtime will relax your body and usually make you feel sleepy.
make sure your bedroom is quiet and comfortable.

Quite a few girls seem to think that clothing style is quite important, well do I have good clothing style:
A few examples; blue Hilfiger polo, with blue and white striped shorts and pair of white, blue and red converse, with a white small stone necklace.
Another; straight light blue jeans, white and blue check shirt with blue and grey jumper, with grey vans canvas shoes
Oh and wear a different eau de toillette everyday, from Issey Miyake to Armani Code.

Bro. I think thats exactly the style girls look for now days. For me though, I have never really fit the American style even though I was born here. I always have to wear a collared shirt with jeans or khakis..no idea why. in other words, I always have to look like I am a professional even though I am not. I have been befriended by many girls but its probably not the way to go. LOL. I think you got the clothes down pat. You just need to find someone who you like. Compliment, introduce, communicate, and you are good to go.

It's absolutely brilliant. I would describe his men's line as a wonderfully refreshing glance into the mind of a post, post-modern stylistic guru. his lines are lithe, discriminating, and yet simplistically masculine. Almost like Jean Claude Van Damme dressing up as Coco Chanel for Halloween. yes, it's that good.

Little Known Facts About Issey Miyake Aftershave

When I checked the internet recently while trying to find out more information on the aftershave by Issey Miyake, I found that there wasn’t much information provided. It is a product that is not reviewed by most product reviewers. What makes me wanting to find out more about this product is because of my friend’s recommendation to switch over to the Issey Miyake aftershave. I am someone who is concerned on what I apply on my face, especially if it is something that can easily ruin your day.

As the name implies, aftershave is applied to our face after we are done shaving to soothe the skin irritation that occurs right after shaving. having a good and compatible aftershave is critical, reasons being if the wrong product is used and it makes it worse instead of soothing your irritation, then you are in for bad day. when my friend recommended the aftershave by Issey Miyake, I decided to research for it before I purchase it. and to my surprise, this is what I found out.

As there wasn’t much information on the internet, I decided to get hold of the actual item to check it out. I managed to get hold of a small little sample of the aftershave from a retail outlet and tried it out on the back of my hand. to my surprise, it felt smooth and silky when it comes in contacts with my hand and the scents were just gorgeous. you will feel as though you are hit head on with a big wave from the ocean. The fresh aquatic-floral scent is so refreshing that it actually perks my day up. The scents actually linger on until the end of the day when I get back from work.

Next I tried it out on a small area of my chin when I finished shaving the next day and the feeling is just great when it is applied. It immediately soothes the irritation I have got on my chin and give me a feeling that is so clean and refreshing, and this just blow my mind away. Even though the price of the aftershave is a little bit steep, about $50 for a 100ml bottle, I still feel that it is money well spent.
