Hair Tips – How to Make Your Hair Shiny and Healthy

Shiny and healthy hair is the exception, rather than the rule because a poor diet, inclement weather, and environmental toxins can make hair dull and limp. but the good news is that it’s possible to take a few simple steps and follow a few healthy hair habits to get thick, lustrous, bouncy hair again.

Here, then, are 2 simple hair tips to make your hair shiny and healthy:

1: Hair Tips on Washing

When you wash your hair, use warm water. Don’t use hot water as this open up the pores, increasing the tendency for hair to fall out of the follicles. Then, when you rinse, use cool water. this stimulates the scalp.

The shampoo and conditioner you use is very important. Although you may be on a tight budget, you should not skimp on hair-care products. Get a good shampoo and conditioner because low-quality, cheap products will do much more harm than good, stripping your hair of necessary oils and drying your scalp. you also have to get the right products for your type of hair and scalp condition.

Finally, wash hair only 3 times a week at the most, unless, of course, you have a job where your hair gets dirty every day. Washing hair on a daily basis can strip away oil from your scalp.

2: Hair Tips on Grooming

Although you may have been taught that brushing your hair 100 times a day will stimulate your scalp, forget such old wives tales. yes, you do stimulate the scalp, but you also irritate it, so avoid brushes because they pull and tear at your hair. instead use a pick or a wide tooth comb and choose one that has rounded, soft edges. Combs or picks with sharp metal or hard plastic edges can scratch your scalp.

Another thing to remember is that blow-dryers are not your friend, and nor are other heat styling implements like flat irons and curling irons. if you must use styling tools, then use cool dryers and curlers, and only use them occasionally. Use low to no heat styling grooming tools.

Why Organic Hair Care Products?

Everywhere you go today, you hear people talking about saving the environment and going green. at first, it seemed like going green by using things such as organic hair care products was a fad – soon to fade away like the hundreds of other fads experienced throughout history.

Makers of organic hair care products tout that if you use their product, not only do you get great looking hair but you can do your part to preserve the earth’s natural resources. many of the proponents say that going organic is also safer for people than the regular products. but is this just more advertising hype or is it true?

No, it’s not hype. It’s true that using organic products for your hair not only promotes green living, but is also safer to use and it’s the best on the market regardless of your hair type.

Despite any economic recession, the number of consumers purchasing organic beauty care products continues to climb. It’s not a fad. Organic is here to stay because people have chosen to educate themselves about the products they use.

Smart consumers realize that using non organic products can have an impact on their health and decide to make a switch. many of the ingredients used in regular shampoos, gels or hair sprays can not only be bad for your hair, they contain ingredients that are toxic and some are known carcinogens.

That’s why it’s so important to not only know what the ingredients really are but to choose to go with organic hair care products instead. did you know that even regular infant shampoos can contain ingredients that aren’t good for your scalp or your child’s either?

Because your scalp can soak in toxins from regular shampoos and other hair products, the chemicals (widely known as preservatives) in these products can pose significant risks to your overall health, especially over long term usage.

Organic hair products are a smarter choice and a long term solution to better hair care for the entire family. the way you use organic hair care products is the same as any regular products except you can rest assured you’re doing something better for your body and the world. Become proactive about your hair care. choose the products guaranteed to give you the look you want as well as the ones that keep your health foremost in mind.

You can find organic hair care products in a variety of stores, such as health food stores or you can buy it from an online supplier and you can find specific organic hair care products that are geared toward the health care needs of your hair type.

Will Hair Gel Contribute to Hair Loss?

This is a question that many people have. Can hair gel cause hair loss? Well in this short article I will explain why it can cause your locks to fall and steps you can take to stop it from happening

First it is my opinion that gels can cause hair loss due to the dangerous chemicals it contains. It will not have a direct effect on the loss of your tresses it can affect it.

Chemicals like Sulphates, ammonia, Phosphates, Sodium Hypochlorite)
Lye (Sodium Hydroxide and Phenols are extremely harmful to the health of your tresses and scalp

The other thing with gel is that if you use it often chances are that you will have to wash it out. And fact is the more you wash your locks with shampoos that contain Sulphates the greater the chances of stripping out sebum which your mane needs to promote healthy growth.

Gels can also clog up hair pores. Clogging follicles and the scalp means the follicles will not be able to breath and this will cause hair problems.

So knowing the dangers of hair gels here are a few tips to stop damage:

To prevent the loss of your tresses by the use of gels do not use too much of it. This is due to the high concentration of these chemicals in it.

The other thing you can do is to dilute the hair gel with a little water before you apply it to your mane.

You also want to minimize the number of times you use gel and shampoo. the best frequency for washing your hair is twice a week. any more than 3 times a week and you will damage the surface of your scalp and cause increased hair loss.

The key to removing the toxins left behind by hair gels is to give your self a deep oil treatment. A deep oil treatment will remove the chemicals that populate the hair gel. the best one to use is Mira oil as it is 100% natural

Whether your tresses fall off when using a gel will depend on the type of hair gel you use. If it is a cheap chemical based one the chances are high that it will cause hair loss. If it is a herbal hair gel chances are that it will not

The other solution to stop hair loss from hair gel is to apply the gel and shampoo to the top and middle parts of your locks and never the scalp.

The key as I mentioned is to apply the gel to the ends of your tresses, you don’t want your locks to develop dry ends from the use of shampoos and gels. the reason is that shampoos and gels contain Sulphates that dry out your scalp and hair. Dry tresses will easily break and come off

If you want to ensure you never lose your tresses from a gel. Get a herbal hair gel. A good one is Mira herbal gel. It has herbs that will stop hair loss and actually encourage the growth of your tresses.

How do I make my hair easier to hold/style?

I am a 20 year old male with medium/short length hair. I am trying out different hair styles and nothing seems to be working for me. I have tried several products (lanza urban molding paste, american crew classic wax, paul mitchell re-works) and none of these hold my hair the way I want them to. I just currently bought d:fi d:struct, but that doesnt seem to be doing it either.

I am trying to style my hair like this (this person also uses d:fi d:struct like me)

and on the left in this picture – 212.224.79.70/gallery/smallphotos/7282.jpg

No matter what I do I cannot get my hair to hold up like that. It just flops over when I put the product in my hair. when my hair is clean and dry it is pretty fluffy. any tips on how to get my hair to hold up easier?

Blow dry with the top of the head facing the floor and use a maximum hold pump spray instead of a wax. other wise cut it shorter in a crew cut or ivy league. the graduation of the top hair with a crew or ivy makes it a lot easier for the hair to stay up at the front hairline because the full length of adjacent hairs are not weighing on each other with the help of gravity and the hair's natural growth tendency to fall forward. the guy in the photo needs a little height at the short pomp front to balance his facial features but not as much as he has and it doesn't have to bush out on the upper sides or over the crown. this answer explains the basic short cuts. the first two links contained therein are quite informative:

ivy league(long crew cut):

Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side if so desired. an ivy league can also be worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form the short pomp front or with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut.
crew cut:

A crew cut can also be worn in the winter:

short crew cut:

flat top crew cut:
a.imagehost.org/0620/Flat_Surfer_…
Grooming any of the short pomp styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.
1) Towel dry hair.
2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.
3)Transfer wax to palms.
4) Smooth palms over hair.
5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.
Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber or stylist.
Good Luck!

The Best Natural Shampoos For Black Hair

So I was talking to one of my sorority sisters this weekend and we started talking about what kind of shampoos to use. she was telling me about having a hard time finding a good natural shampoo for African American hair, so I did a little reading and here is what I have found.

Black hair has a very unique texture; even though it is dry and curly it varies from other ethnicities. for example dry curly hair on a Caucasian is totally different then dry curly hair on an African American. it is very hard to find a shampoo that helps the situation. Most shampoo’s that help dry curly hair are catered to Caucasian hair, and most products for black hair are just cheap copies of name brand shampoos that don’t work. It’s hard to find a shampoo that helps make black hair healthy. so I created a few rules to help narrow down what kind of shampoo you need for your specific hair type.

The 4 Golden Rules for Black Hair Shampoos:

1). Find out what kind of hair do you have? If you have dry hair look for a moisturizing shampoo created just for black hair. try to find a shampoo that is naturally based so that is does not have harsh chemicals that can damage the hair or scalp. if your hair grows really slow you can use a shampoo that helps black hair grow faster or use black hair vitamins.

2). be smart and research. Natural is the best so, make sure you find a shampoo that has no sulfates, silicones, or glycols, all these ingredient do in the long run is strip the scalp of its natural oils and dries out hair.

3). look for, shampoo’s that have Aloe Vera (for moisturizing) and Jojoba Oil (which is a natural moisturizer). look for shampoos with essential or natural oils or botanicals that add shine and bounce, also look for a treatment that will detangle and condition.

4). Wash at least one time per week. if you have a quality product that should be plenty, follow that up with a jojoba oil treatment to add moisture or hair vitamins to help you hair grow faster and you should be good to go.

If you follow these 4 golden rules you should have your hair under control in no time at all.
