Questions to Ask Yourself Before Getting Hair Extensions

How much am I willing to spend to start the process of having hair extensions?

Deciding how much you are willing to spend on extensions will not only help you set a budget but it will allow you to figure out what hair and type of extension is within that budget.

What about my color re-growth?

If you are one of those girls that can’t stand having any re-growth you might want to talk to you stylist about what your options are for your color up keep in between tightening your extensions.
How long do they last, before having to get them tightened?

Some extensions can be worn for only a short period of time before having to get tightened while others it can be a couple months. this will help you decide how much maintenance you will have to have with the type of extension you choose. it will also give you an idea of the cost.

Am I ready for the extra maintenance that comes along with having extensions?

Having hair extensions isn’t something that’s easy, but it’s not hard either. it just requires a little extra time. for example blow drying your hair will take a little while longer just because its not your natural hair. Swimming and sleep are also something you have to take extra precautions on. when you are swimming (if you can swim in your extensions) you will have to take care to not just let your extensions be loose they either need to be braided or put into a tight bun to protect the hair. same as when you are sleeping to prevent unnecessary tangling.

Is my hair in the right condition for hair extensions? Can it handle the stress that they may cause?

If you hair is too damaged you might not what to put your hair under that much stress. the extra weight of the hair extension might cause more breakage then you would have if your hair was healthy.

Can anyone help me with hair extensions?

So there are a few things I'd like to know. first off, I wanna know what kind of hair do you recommend? Mostly, I have my mind set on Bohyme, Black Diamond or Milky way. I've heard they are all good.

Now my hair is naturally thick but I plan to get a full head weave so I plan to get either European or Indian hair because I like that texture better than Yaki. I currently use Premium now Yaki but i HATE it. (i have a partial weave) it tangled my hair so much! but what I really need to know how limited my styling options are with a full head weave. Will I be able to do a ponytail or bun? I don't want to just leave it out every single day. I would go partial but I feel as though my hair will not blend good with European hair. =[

Thanks so much for anyone who answers! <33

I have Foxylocks! They're clip in.. so you can do what you want, they're affordable and they're the BEST extensions I've ever had and I've had tons! :)

HAIR WEAVES & BRAIDS: some hairstyles, including tight braids and weaves, may increase the risk of developing an irreversible form of scarring hair loss, according to a new study in the Archives of Dermatology.
Seen predominately in African-American women, this type of hair loss, central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia, centers on the vertex (crown) of the scalp and spreads peripherally.
“Any style that causes too much tension and traction on the hair, such as braiding with artificial hair weaved in, can possibly lead to scarring hair loss,” says study author Angela Kyei, MD, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
In the study, 326 African-American women answered questionnaires about their hair-grooming methods, health status, and other demographic information. Dermatologists then performed a scalp examination to grade hair loss.

Nearly 60% of the women showed signs of advanced central hair loss with scarring. the women were also more likely to have type 2 diabetes and bacterial scalp infections, and sport hair styles associated with traction, including braids and weaves, the study showed.
“But hair loss is permanent, meaning that we can inject steroids or creams but it won't bring your hair back, so it’s very important to seek help with dermatologists early on,” she says.

Weaving extensions into caucasian hair?

Can you weave extensions into caucasian hair, and how long does it last?

Yes you can…takes about 3 hours… better extentions are micro-locs and takes less time.

YOU CAN WEAVE EXTENSION INTO CAUCASIAN HAIR. IT DOESN'T LAST AS LONG AS AFRICAN AMERICAN DUE TO THE DIFFERENT TEXTURES OF HAIR. I WOULD MAKE AN ESTIMATED GUESS OF 4-6 WEEKS IF KEPT UP.

It's a bit more difficult because its so silky. but rubbing the hair helps as well as using sunsilk volumizer.

I strong recommend you try to look up for the same straight or curl hair than yours, I have heard that people with hairs extensions have problems when they have their hair wet cuz the difference between urs and extensions could be notorious and that is not pretty

So be careful

my daughter had it done and it lasts about 6 to 8 weeks, it was a lovely job and cost about €100
