Tweezers As Tools in Watch Making

Anti magnetic steel tweezers are special because they can be used to hold components that may be magnetic in nature and without risk of damaging or inducing magnetic properties. Dumont Tweezers Geneva shape – thick is a tweezer model that is made out of anti magnetic steel. It has a thick tip which can be used to grip slightly big components. The Dumont Tweezer Fine Tip model made of high quality anti magnetic steel is designed for use with very small parts. The Dumonth Tweezers come in different numbers to indicate the tip size; under each number they further may have fine tip, strong tip, extra fine tip etc. The Dumont Tweezers No-1 has a strong and perfect finish. Making Your Own Personalized Ruby Rings

• the first thing you are required to do is that you have to go out and buy the ring settings comprising of the right number of prongs. the number of prongs usually depends on the type of gemstones chosen by you. You will also have to choose a set of good ring mounts; the choice is usually dependent upon the rubies’ shape.

• next you have to choose the size of the rubies. You may need to measure the rubies. You have to buy the ring settings according to the size of the rubies you have chosen. This is really important because the absence of a proper sized ring setting may cause the ruby centerpieces to fall off.

• once everything is in place you will have to place the gemstone into the centre of the prongs with the help of a pair of tweezers. In most of the cases, the rubies can easily fit inside the settings, but they may also fall off.

• next, you will have to use a pair of needle nose pliers for crimping a single prong at a time over the gemstone centerpiece. You simply have to position the bottom tongue of the pliers’ at the bottom of the prong which has to be tightened. the other tongue is then to be placed on the top of the prong. You are then required to apply some pressure carefully on the prong and then bend it over the rubies.

• In fact, you will have to go on to tighten the prongs and make sure that while doing it you move in diagonal movements. the process has to be continued till the time you have tightened every prong. It is important that you move in a diagonal manner so that your rubies do not fall out of the ring settings, as it may actually happen.

How To Care Your Rolex Watches

Loupe – or the magnifier, is used to inspect the detailed markings, serial numbers, and anything we couldn’t see with our normal vision. when purchasing a jewelers loupe, look for the magnification power (a number with the symbol X meaning times the actual size that we would normally see). The best loupe for a Rolex would be the 10x triplet loupe (three lenses placed together for precision).

Screwdriver – used for adding/removing the links of a bracelet, thus resizing the bracelet, etc. further, we recommend purchasing the standard jewelers screwdriver set that usually includes between 6 to 9 screwdrivers with blade sizes ranging from 0.60 (mm) to 3.00 (mm). We also recommend higher-end screwdrivers that have swivel tops for precision one-hand use. These sets typically come in either a plastic case or on a rotating stand for easy access.

Watch Tweezer – used for handling and gripping very small parts, inserting screws, etc.

Swiss Pocket Knife (Swiss Army) – this knife features two blades, including a non-threatening blade that is specifically made to open watch cases and the other sharp blade for general use.

Pliers and Cutter- used for detail and precision work. We recommend high-end pliers that are stainless steel with rubber grips. We highly suggest separating these tools from other use and purposes to avoid any type of damage on them, thus becoming unsuitable for watch works. The following are different types of pliers:

Chain nose pliers – probably the most popular pliers. This is often used for picking up pieces, bending and coiling wire. also enables you to get into places without having your hand at awkward angles, thus making your work a lot harder.
Flat nose pliers – have flat jaws and are used for pulling, holding, straightening, bending, etc.
Round nose pliers – have circular jaws and are used for coiling, looping, and bending wires.

Cutter – often called nippers are mainly used for cutting wires and other smaller pieces of metal.

Polishing Kit – comes with an assortment of buffers, abrasive wheels, polishing cloths, and polishing compounds.

Something is wrong with my big toe nail….freaking out?

Ok for the last maybe 3 weeks to a month it seems like it started out as an ingrown toe nail on my right big toe. well it now seems to be lifting in the right corner like its going to fall off maybe. Theres been a little bit of puss not much at all. so i havent bothered it for like 2 weeks and tonight i took tweezers to see if it was healing and i pulled out some rice grained size thing. It was kinda squishy? the best way i can describe it is it looked like a segment of a tapeworm….of course thats not what it was i just dont know how else to describe it. then my toe started to bleed. I dont know what in the world is going on but im freaking out and dont know whats going on. if anyone has any info please let me know. and no smart remarks this is serious. Thank you.

Could it be a maggot? seriously. if so, then it might not be so bad if it's the only one. keep the thing you pulled out. Put it in a jar and go to a doctor – preferably a good foot doctor. see my second link to locate a podiatric surgeon.

You need to go to a doctor, if its an infection they'll give meds for it plus you don't want it to get worse.

It could be a couple of things, but whatever it is your toe is definitely inflamed and/or infected. For the infection, you should soak it for 10 minutes in hot water- as hot as you can stand it. after that, apply some antibiotic ointment and bandage. Change the bandage if it gets wet, and even if it does not you need to change it about twice a day. Wear open toed shoes until it goes away.

If it begins to smell, changes color, or gets worse then you may have developed a bacterial infection in the wound and need to see a doctor right away. if you see red lines running up your foot and leg then you need to go to the emergency room.

As for the rice thing- it could be a calcium deposit, a benign tumor or cyst, or even some kind of parasite depending on where you live. if the remaining wound does not heal (or begin to heal, circulation in feet is not so good which slows healing) within 3 days then you need to see a doctor. if you get any more of these, then you need to see a doctor.

While a nose hair and ear hair trimmer is a short term fix and may only remove the hair for a few days or perhaps weeks, it shouldn’t be a painful experience if done properly and is usually relatively quick to complete.

Plus, a decent nose hair and ear hair trimmer start at about $20 for a decent one that is battery operated so it’s pretty cheap too.

Given the precarious location of nose hair and ear hair, the options for hair removal are somewhat more limited than other body parts that might be treatable with other longer-lasting options.

You might find a laser hair removal practitioner that is willing to offer ear hair removal but when it comes to nose hair removal, you’re probably stuck with shorter-term options like the ones mentioned above.

Having said that, nose hair and ear hair are generally confined to relatively small areas so using an electric trimmer to deal with the unwanted hair in question can usually do the trick when done carefully.

Eyelash Extensions Will Dramatically Change Your Look (PHOTOS)

Me BEFORE the eyelash extensions.in my old age I find myself starting to live a little more dangerously, trying things I’ve always wanted to do. Like not wearing a bra to work. Sampling Pajama Jeans in public. and removing my lady beard and telling the world about it. Well today, I want to talk about adding eyelash extensions to the pathetic wisps of hair around my eyes. I want to be a Venus Flytrap face in the name of beauty.

I’ve been on this ‘where the freak did my eyelashes go?!’ rampage for some time now. I suspect that after I had my children, my eyelashes went the way of my ass and just disappeared. My suspicion also has me believing the coarse hairs that once helped me bat my lashes to win over my husband’s heart are now reappearing on my chin. We won’t talk about where my ass went, but I think most moms know exactly what happened there.

In order to be hairy on the eye again, I went to Alicia Hunter, NovaLash expert extraordinaire. and the results were shocking.

First let’s talk about the application. It’s tedious. it took 90 minutes! So make sure you go to an experienced and well trained eyelash extensionist since one false move and you’ll have a hairy eyeball. That’s why I went to Alicia. she does the lashes of Real Housewives of New York Sonja Morgan and Ashleigh Banfield, and she’s basically a surgeon with her hands. she applied one lash at a time with a tweezer and NovaLash’s Platinum Bond Adhesive, which is a medical grade adhesive that lasts and is safe for use in the eye area.

I sat like this for 90 minutes. only the upper lashes are done so this must separate the upper from the lower.

It was a little uncomfortable at first and my eyes fluttered, but as I settled in, I went to a happy relaxed place. if I was able to have my coffee fed to me through a straw, it would have been perfect. Alicia and I chatted about our kids and clothes as she transformed me into Eyelash McLasherson.

Yes, I clearly need an eyebrow tweeze and should consult an aesthetician but can we talk about the LASHES? WOW!!

I have no mascara on, people!

I realized this was going to be one of the best AND worst things that would happen to me.

Oh hello eyelashes!the best because, well, look at them! I got complimented on my long, lush lashes at the dentist (true story) and at the hair salon (the girl who washed my hair looooooved them and thought they were real!). the best because I didn’t have to put on any eye makeup to look awake and ready to go. the best because who has time for makeup some days? the best because it’s summer and hot and my eye makeup sometimes likes to run — not a problem when you don’t have to wear any. the best because these lashes can last for weeks and weeks.

The worst because once they are gone, you remember what you had and miss those long beautiful eyelashes oh so much. Kind of like the booty I once had and wish I had again. but unlike my rear, I can get more lashes, or upkeep them.

Here’s the deal: Typically, when you get eyelash extensions, good ones, they will fall out when your lash naturally falls out. you have to take care of them by using a glycol-free mascara, though you really don’t need any mascara at all. you also should condition them with NovaLash cleansing pads to help the lashes keep their flexibility; otherwise, they get wonky and go in the wrong direction. Trust me on that one.

A single eyelash has a lifespan of about four to eight weeks. So every four weeks you would go to your NovaLash specialist and get fill-ins to keep your lashes lush. It’s a commitment much like keeping up with your bikini wax schedule. I didn’t do that though. I let my extensions fall out without replacing and there was a week or so where I had a few long lashes mixed in with my piddly ones. Kind of a weird look. I’m sad to say they are all gone now and I think about them every day when I put on mascara. Tear.

Bet you’re wondering about price? Yes, well they cost about $300 to $450 — Alicia did mine without charge. Fill-ins take approximately 40 minutes and cost around $100. 

Worth it? I think so. it was a boost of confidence to not need makeup and I love the idea for a special occasion. can be a pricey habit, but so is drinking on the weekends and that doesn’t contribute to looking good in the least.

How can I remove the super glued Swarovski crystals from my T-Mobile Sidekick?

About a month ago, I purchased genuine Swarovski crystal elements from a craft store. they didn't come with adhesive backs, so I super glued them around the screen of my T-Mobile Sidekick. a few have fallen off and I don't want the remainder of them on my phone anymore. Since it's near the screen, I want to avoid liquid solutions if possible. I've tried scraping, tweezers, rubbing alcohol, nothing seems to loosen the crystals. Any ideas?

Dried Superglue is probably 2 times stronger than the material the phone i made of. it may be correct to assume that if you apply enough force you will rip the phone apart before you are able to detach the crystal from the screen.

next time try an adhesive that is not 100% permanent , if you feel that you may not want to keep the crystals on for the entire life of the phone.

What i say only applies ,if the superglue you used is real super glue , and not a lower strength imitation brand.

My Micro SD card is stuck in my phone – what do I do?!?

The phone is an LG Crystal (GD900 Transparent phone)… if that helps ;)

Would tweezers work or should I send it in to a shop to get the card removed? It's the first time I'd used a MicroSD card n this phone…

Yeah, I would try tweezers. if that doesn't work take it to our local Verizon phone. They should be able to (at no charge to you.) good luck.
