The Various Styles for a Tub Grab Bar

Getting in and out of the bathtub can be tricky, even for someone who does not have a medical condition that hinders their movement. when safety is an especially important issue, it is necessary to have a tub grab bar for getting in and out of the tub without a problem. there are several types of these bars available, so patients and caregivers have a choice as to what will work best for their needs.

The Invacare Vinyl Firmgrip Grab Bar is an example of a basic method that someone might choose for their bathroom. These bars can be mounted on the wall by the bathtub or commode horizontally, diagonally or vertically, depending on the specific needs. the bars are sturdy but soft, so they will be comfortable on the hands of whoever needs to hold on to them.

When traveling, it is not safe to assume that the tub in a hotel will necessarily have a tub grab bar for a guest who needs it. in this case, it is good to be prepared and travel with a portable suction telescoping grip bar. the telescoping design makes it easy to lengthen or shorten the bar according to the needs of the user, and to store for travel. This way, nobody will ever have to be in an unsafe situation because the hotel they chose is not equipped for their needs.

If a tub grab bar is placed in one definite position, the lack of flexibility may make the person using it a bit nervous. in this case, it is a good idea to go with something like the Safe Er Grip Swivel bar. This bar can swivel into a variety of positions, which means that the person holding on will be able to maintain their grasp, even if they happen to take a slight slip.

For a more permanent solution, it may be a good idea to consider a durable chrome bath rail. These rails are chrome plated, which means that they are easy to clean and will most likely match the dcor in whatever bathroom they go in. it features rubber pads on each point where it makes contact with the tub, which helps avoid scratches.

Even if someone is in perfect health, they are in danger of serious injury from slipping when they get in and out of the bathtub. A tub grab bar is a great way to protect someone who may not be very steady on their feet from having this type of injury. Depending on how permanent the situation is and what their specific needs are, any home should be able to find a bar that works with their tub.

Heat Up Your Bathroom With a Towel Rail

When you visualize a bathroom, it always appears to be cold, wet and gloomy. on an early morning when the bathroom is chilled, bathroom towel rails are a relief. they provide not only hot towels and comfortable warmth, but also convenience. Besides warming up the bathroom, rails also reduce condensation which results in reduced mold and mildew.

There are three types of heated rails for bathrooms:

1) Plumbed-in warm rails- linked to the heating system, the functioning of this type of bathroom rail can be controlled. The heat comes from the central heating unit of your house. You can put on the function as and when required. The rail stops functioning when the central unit is off. This is the most inexpensive rail when compared to other rails.

2) Electrical rails- this bathroom rail is not attached to the central heating unit and thus works independently, unlike the plumbed-in rails. There’s something like a timer feature in it as well. The greatest benefit of this towel rail is that it depends on electricity and thus you can easily control the heat as well. However, those who want to save on their electricity consumption should not opt for electrical rails.

3) Dual Heater rails- this type of rail is a combination of the first two types. It can depend either on electricity or on heating system, and is thus very popular. The quality of insulation, heating output of the towel rail chosen and the size of the bathroom determine whether the heated rail will be able to heat your bathroom or not. Calculate the amount of heat you need to heat the room fully by using British Thermal Unit (BTU, a unit used to measure heat/energy), and accordingly choose an appropriate bathroom rail that gives the required output of heat for your bathroom.

However, one thing you always need to remember is that heating your bathroom is not the real purpose of a heated bathroom rail. It is only an additional benefit you get and not a deliberate design feature. Ideally, fix the bathroom rail on the coldest wall of your bathroom, often the one with the window on. This will help in increasing the efficiency of the towel rail by allowing equal flow of heat throughout the room. a rail requires no special care and maintenance. when the unit is disconnected and cold, you just need to clean with a cloth. Using solvents and abrasive products is not necessary for cleaning the towel rail. While manufacturing a bathroom rail, protection of environment is always kept in mind. a fixed quantity of a special fluid is filled in bathroom rails. In case you think it is important to open the bathroom rail for repair, always take it to the manufacturer instead of going ahead on your own. when the useful life of the appliance is about to come to an end, it should be taken to a clean point for appropriate recycling of the materials.

How high does a heated towel rail need to be in a bathroom?

What is the standard floor to rail distance for heated towel rails in a bathroom?

As you can buy rails about 6 ft high there is no standard height.

Normally 43" from the ground to the top of the rail.

Passion 4 K.I.D.S. Charity Launches National Campaign Asking 25,000 People to Donate $10 to Buy Specially Equipped Home for Baby Paralyzed by Uninsured Teen Drunk Driver

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 30, 2011

Passion 4 K.I.D.S. (Kids in Desperate Situations) 501 (c) (3) charity is launching a major national campaign called “25,000 Giving Just $10″. If 25,000 people donate a minimum of $10, the children’s charity will be able to purchase a small home for the little boy affectionately known as “Baby Izaiah” who remains paralyzed from the neck down and breathing on a ventilator since being violently struck by a teen driving drunk while being wheeled in his stroller.

The campaign’s successful initial launch in San Diego County raised $100,000 within several months but with inquiries now coming in from around the country, including even soldiers in Iraq, Passion 4 K.I.D.S. has expanded its efforts to allow those touched by this tragic story of baby Izaiah to participate in helping Izaiah’s young family move into their own small home specially equipped to accommodate little Izaiah’s handicapped needs. the charity needs to raise an additional $250,000 to purchase the home and renovate as needed. Tax deductible contributions can be made on passion4kids.com

“This campaign is designed to allow everyone to participate no matter the size of their contribution,” according to Linda Van Kessler, who along with husband Charles is the founder of Passion 4 K.I.D.S. “Many people feel like just a small gift of even $10 can’t make a difference so they don’t contribute but the San Diego campaign launch of raising $100,000 was achieved 95% by individuals making small contributions. We want to empower people to give anything they can and to know that together we CAN make a difference for baby Izaiah and his family.”

Izaiah Wallis, an 18 month old energetic baby, was being wheeled in his stroller on the sidewalk by his grandfather on the way to the park when suddenly his life was forever changed by a teen drunk and “high”driver who struck him at 9 am on a Monday morning, according to the North County Times. Ten months and six surgeries later, Izaiah continues to be paralyzed from the neck down with severe brain injury, partially blind, is nourished through a feeding tube, has a colostomy and breathes through a ventilator and tracheotomy.

Doctors have told Izaiah’s young parents that short of a miracle Izaiah will remain in this condition for the remainder of his life due to the severity of injury to his spinal cord. Izaiah was released to come home and will require 24/7 care, physical and occupational therapy for his entire life. These staggering costs will be the sole responsibility of Izaiah’s 22 year old parents who have no health insurance. according to Sign On San Diego, the teen responsible for the accident was here illegally and had no insurance or license. To date the medical bills for Izaiah total over $3.5 million. his mom recently went back to part-time minimum wage work to earn some income for the family and his dad stays at home 24/7 caring for Izaiah and running all the medical equipment that keeps him alive.

Recently Dr. Dennis Maness, the brain specialist who is overseeing Izaiah’s post-hospital treatment, has indicated that it is a medical necessity that Izaiah get into another home as soon as possible for many reasons affecting his health: the current home is termite-infested and his immune system cannot tolerate for it to be fumigated, there are possible lead paint and asbestos issues, the windows in his room are far from airtight and the dampness and air get in very severely (Izaiah has twice suffered pneumonia), the halls cannot accommodate his wheelchair, the bathroom door cannot accommodate his wheelchair, his wheelchair cannot get into the shower to bathe him, etc. according to the doctor, “This is not a luxury – it is a necessity for Izaiah’s health.”

This has been a huge media story in San Diego for the past 10 months and has now gone national with coverage on MSNBC and Univision.

Passion 4 K.I.D.S. desperately needs help to reach its ultimate goal of $350,000 for the home to be paid in full. Progress can be charted on the home page of Passion 4 K.I.D.S.

A video has been published about baby Izaiah’s heart-wrenching story.

Your daughter is ADORABLE!!! But the hospital pictures made me sad, why was she there? She looked so small in that crib.

I don't have a bedrail because Cam is barely a toddler and still in his crib.

I have heard of that carseat, I believe it is one of the only ones of Safety first carseats that have good ratings. But I've heard more good things about the Graco MyRide one. we have the Costco Alpha Omega, I love it…it got great reviews…said it was hard to install but if you followed directions, it wasn't.

Awww, she is adorable.

I have the saftey first car seat with side impact protection ( the really expensive one lol ) and it works excellent. we may not have gotten into any accidents, so we don't know if it actually works at the most toughest of times, but when you are just driving around, it works quite well. it is comfortable too, my son nearly always falls asleep in it, even when it is not in the car.. Ha ha ha.

And bed rails? I don't use them, sorry. =/

Not sure if you use facebook, but that is the only place I have photos..

Here is Xander getting ready to go to the beach today..

I usually lay in bed with my son so he doesn't fall off, so I guess me and daddy are the best bed rail.

Sorry I don't know anything about the Safety first carseat. have heard good things about it though.

I haven't tried any bed rails, although we are to the point where we need one.

Here is Winnie after her bath [:

Your daughter is beautiful.

To answer your question: I have my bed on the floor so even when my son rolls he won't hurt himself if he fall off the bed.

Aww cute pictures! I don't use bed rails yet…Daniel sleeps in his crib every night. As for the car seat, we're using Evenflow Omega something or other. I like it because it cleans up well and is comfortable for our son.

PLEASE ANSWER, I MAY HAVE A DISEASE FROM A TOILET SEAT? [NURSES/DOCTORS WOULD REALLY HELP]?

I used a handicapped toilet stall because there were none open. So i saw pee on it and I just sat on it anyways, but first i put one of those plastic things that go over the toilet seats, then i sat on it and i saw the pee leaked thru the plastic thing and my vagina touched it.

Could i get a disease? I'm worreid because it was a handicapped persons stall, I know not all of them have disease, but idk. Plus it was pee and my vagina touched it.

THANK YOU, if you help me you'd really really make me feel better and i'd appreciate it a lot. I'm not a troll, seriously i'm 13 and i am worried.

Most handicapped people do not have diseases like that. although coming in contact with urine can be dangerous, even if it was a healthy person who sat on it. I would go to the doctor so they can run the necessary test to make sure that you didn't get infected with anything. I'm sure your fine, but to put your mind at ease and to make sure you didn't catch anything just go to the doctor it's better than worrying about it all the time.

Please rate these jokes 1-10?

Section 1: Chuck Norris jokes.

If you want a list of Chuck Norris’ enemies, just check the extinct species list.

Chuck Norris doesn't dodge bullets, bullets dodge Chuck Norris.

If Chuck Norris is late, time better slow the f*ck down.

If you have five dollars and Chuck Norris has five dollars, Chuck Norris has more than you.

A handicap parking sign does not signify that this spot is for handicapped people. it is actually in fact a warning, that the spot belongs to Chuck Norris and that you will be handicapped if you park there.

Aliens do exist. They're just waiting for Chuck Norris to die before they attack.

Chuck Norris has already been to Mars; that's why there are no signs of life.

There is no chin behind Chuck Norris' beard. There is only another fist.

There are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, Chuck Norris lives in Oklahoma.

Chuck Norris’ hand is the only hand that can beat a Royal Flush.

AND MY PERSONAL FAVORITE

The original name of the movie was Alien vs Predator vs Chuck Norris, but the producers realized that nobody would ever watch a movie that only lasted fourteen seconds.

Section 2: yo mamma jokes, no offence to anyone:

Why do blondes have BMWs? Because they can sell it.

What's the easiest way to kill a blonde? put a scratch & sniff sticker in the bottom of a pool.

What would you do if a blonde threw a hand grenade at you? Pull the pin and throw it back.

**Another hand grenade one**
What happens when a blonde throws a pin at you? run like hell, she's got a grenade in her mouth.

Section 4: Obscene jokes: (only one)

A new guy in town walks into a bar and reads a sign that hangs over the bar.

FREE BEER FOR THE PERSON WHO CAN PASS OUR TEST!

So the guy asks the bartender what the test is. the Bartender replies "Well, first you have to drink that whole gallon of pepper tequila, the whole thing at once and you can't make a face while doing it. Second, there's a 'gator out back with a sore tooth…you have to remove it with your bare hands. Third, there's a woman up-stairs who's never had an orgasm. you gotta make things right for her."

The guy says, "Well, as much as I would love free beer, I won't do it. you have to be nuts to drink a gallon of pepper tequila and then get crazier from there. Well, as time goes on and the man drinks a few, he asks, "Wherez zat teeqeelah?"

He grabs the gallon of tequilla with both hands, and downs it with a big slurp and tears streaming down his face. Next, he staggers out back and soon all the people inside hear the most frightening roaring and thumping, then silence.

The man staggers back into the bar, his shirt ripped and big scratches all over his body. "Now" he says "Where's that woman with the sore tooth?"

And… That's it for now. please rate
