Should I Buy an Electronic or Power Tootbrush?

Been wondering if you should get an power toothbrush also known as a electric toothbrush?

Studies shows that power toothbrushes with rotating-oscillating heads can remove significantly additional more plaque than a normal everyday toothbrush. as plaque hardens over time, it must be removed by a dentist, but if it is caught early, an electric toothbrush can completely remove existing plaque and ensure that no new plaque builds up thus protecting you in the future. While a normal toothbrush can do the same thing, the power brush can easily get into nooks and crannies near the gum line where plaque normally hides.

Electric toothbrushes can reach back teeth and other difficult-to-reach spots without much hassle. the area around the back molars and on the back of the front teeth is often missed when using a normal toothbrush. an power brush needs only to be passed over the area to do its work all on its own. This ensures a more thorough cleaning in those areas that often draw plaques and germs.

Power toothbrushes can also prevent gum disease. Gum disease can be caused by plaque buildup at the gum line. In its earliest form, gingivitis, the buildup can cause the gums to turn red and swollen and lots of the time even bleeds. When gingivitis goes untreated, it becomes periodontitis, which is a serious infection of the gum tissue and the bone. It can cause loss of teeth and even more systemic infections. A power toothbrush removes plaque at the gum line with its oscillating action, preventing gingivitis.

Power toothbrushes can be gentler on enamel than normal brushes. Surprisingly dentists found that most people brush their teeth too hard, not too soft. This can abrade the enamel on teeth and cause sensitivity. Because there is no need to press hard with an electric toothbrush, the enamel is protected.

Electronic toothbrushes can help children brush more thoroughly without more work. Children are notorious for not brushing long enough or well enough even if they think they do. A power toothbrush can overcome some of these deficiencies because kids do not have to remember which way to brush.

Power toothbrushes do more work than normal toothbrushes in the exact same amount of time. Power brushes are simply more efficient at the task than your hand could ever be. Because the rotating heads brush in different directions with different motions, they can more effectively clean the teeth than a straight up-and-down motion can. they also do it faster as the heads rotate more quickly than most people can brush.

Power toothbrushes can clean dental appliances better than a manual brush. People who have braces or wires bonded on to their teeth often find brushing difficult as food and plaque can build up around the devices. A power brush works in multiple directions and can clean around these barriers more effectively.

Power toothbrushes can stimulate blood flow in the gums. Healthy gums needs good blood flow. A power brush massages gums and stimulates blood flow throughout the gums. Healthy gums safeguard teeth and keep them strong and healthy.

Power toothbrushes are gentler on dental work. Dental work like crowns and caps require gentle handling with a toothbrush. Because manual brushing can be abrasive to teeth when done too vigorously, breakage and loosening of dental work can result. an electric toothbrush can ensure that the area is cleaned well with little pressure.

Power toothbrushes can help those with mobility problems. People with arthritis in the joints of their hands and other illnesses that make holding of a toothbrush hard find that an power brush is easier to use around the mouth and that they do not have to press as hard to get a better result

Can anyone find me an unflavored xylitol & baking soda toothpaste?

I dislike mint, cinnamon, fennel, etc. I would just like a plain toothpaste with xylitol and maybe baking soda as well, fluoride-free (sometimes I use fluoride toothpaste, not interested in debating its merits in this question, but I like to have options).

Tom's Of Maine seems to once have had something like what I want: am-products.stores.yahoo.net/toho…

But it seems (also from the Tom's Of Maine website) that it is no longer offered.

I'm having trouble finding something, does anyone know of a product offhand?

Thanks!

What is the best Teeth whitening product in stores?

i went to the dentist to get my teeth whitened but it is to expensive, somebody told me that the product at the stores do the same things and its a lot cheaper, does anybody know which products are good for this? thanks

Teeth whitening products?

i am going to start whitening my teeth with one of those products you by at the store. does anyone have any good/bad reviews on any of these products? eg. crest, cvs brand, etc

I use listerine whitening mouthwash before I brush, and I use whitening metadent tootpaste, then I have no need for the whitening strips, trays or gels etc. These two things I have mentioned make my teeth very white. Hope this helps ya!

hey i tried these strips that i found on internet and there ace really good after six days they were really white. I got them and they gave me three extra packs for free. I thing there patented so im not sure whether you will get them in a store. the site is below if you want to have a look
hope it helped

Crest white strips are probably the most popular brand, but it's also probably the most expensive. I suggest going to a few stores, checking out their brands and then looking them up online. They usually have ratings posted. you can also ask your dentist.

Try using the Listerine Mouth Whitening Pre-Brush Mouth Wash. it works great! although, if your teeth don't have very many surface stains then your teeth won't get much whiter ( and don't' worry every ones teeth have a natural tint to them, hardly anyone has snow white colored teeth). I'd recommend getting a teeth whitening treatment. They are expensive, but my sister got hers done and it made her teeth 3-4 shade lighter than her natural color. Good luck!

The teeth whitening products that you can get at the stores usually do work well but I get the best results from using the ones that my dentist supplies. you could always ask your dentist for a sample to see if you like it. And most of the time it works better than (over-the-counter) teeth whitening systems.

try the tooth paste, pearl drops. my sister has been using it and it works. She tries a lot of things…and she likes that the best.

Should pregnant women use Sonic Care toothbrushes? Will the sound/vibrations be too disturbing to fetuses?

Just wondering if the loud sound and vibration may have negative impact on the baby.

I hope this wouldn't be a problem! I used mine, and it's not that loud. My baby was exposed to fireworks on July 4th for example and other things that I was assured by my doctor that should not harm the baby. He's only a month old now, but my electric toothbrush was encouraged by my dentist, too, as I was having pregnancy induced gingivitis!

It shouldn't bother your baby at all.

I doubt the baby will even hear the vibrations. they are in amniotic fluid which makes their hearing the same as if they were under water.

wow. "disturbing to the fetus"

to hell with the fetus. i think that if it decides to live in my body, well it can deal with me brushing my teeth.

but hey. its different for every person. some people are ultra paranoid about fetuses.

but if you think about it human fetuses are designed to survive far worse conditions that toothbrushes

Nope, your baby will be fine!

Lol, no it will not bother your baby. You are susceptible to much louder sounds doing daily activities(vacuuming the floor, watching televison, driving in your car).

If vibrators are allowed in pregnancy (and they are) I'm pretty sure your electric toothbrush is fine.
