Wet Shaving With A Safety Razor: 5 Tips For Newbies

So you’ve decided to take the plunge and use a safety razor like grandpa did? most men who try the old-school safety razor, a quality badger hair brush and shaving soap never look back. Here’s a few tips to get you going in the right direction.

1. Take your time. when shaving with a safety razor, slow down. Leave the 5-bladed razor wielding shavers to rush the job and end up with razor burn. when using a safety razor, take your time and think about beard reduction. this means making several passes, relathering between passes, each pass taking a bit more beard off than the last.

2. Watch the contours Unlike one of the newer pivoting razors, the head doesn’t move: you must manually adjust the angle of the blade to the contour of your face. Careful around the chin and jawline areas. Again, see tip #1

3. start with a hot, wet face. Always wash your face before shaving, then warm up the beard area for a minute or so with water or a hot towel or a combination of both. Keep your face wet while shaving.

4. Lather up well. Use a quality shaving soap with a badger hair brush. Do not use foam from a can some say the propellant in the aerosol can creates a foam with little pockets of air, these tiny pockets of air leave your face unprotected. Instead use shaving soap in a bowl and mix up a nice lather with a badger hair brush. Once you’ve tried it, you may never go back.

5. and lastly, use a sharp blade. the great thing about wet shaving is that after the initial expense of safety razor, brush, bowl and shaving soap, the razor blades are pretty cheap. So resist the urge to overuse a blade. Replace the DE (double edged) razor blade at least twice per month, depending on how many times you shave a week. If you have a particularly tough beard, you might want to change blades once a week.

Every face and set of whiskers is different, so find what works for you. There are a ton of great shaving soaps, razors, blades, brushes, etc. have fun finding the right mix for your face and enjoy your shave for a change

Help!… at least response to first paragraph?? – how do you know? – home loan refinance…?

Hi, would really love any advice!!! My BASIC 2 QUESTIONs (first one being most important) are (any answer to these questions will be just awesome as they are, if you don't have time to read the rest, including ''more details'' to each below):

Q1(the most important(). how does one REALLY go about knowing which institution / bank will loan to you, and to what amount, BEFORE you actually put in a direct/formal application to them??

Q2. any particular insitutions / banks people might suggest that are more flexible for people with good capacity to pay but who don't fit the ''permanent job and white picket fence'' mould? OR where else might I seek info about which institutions????

MORE DETAILS:

Against Q1: – To me it seems backwards to have to consider such a thing. But, while every bank has online calculators to tell you your borrowing capacity etc, they're all very basic – though the bank certainly considers these factors, their online calculators don't take into account either the loan-to-value ratio of the mortgaged property, or employment factors. And since (very ridiculously) any loan rejections get listed on your credit file, and then themselves become a negative factor in subsequent applications, I'm obviously super keen to avoid bothering to apply with anyone who's just going to reject me. plus, if you try (as I have already) to phone institutions and speak to their phone consultants, at best you get very vague answers…ie. they don't really know. So they essentially try to push you into just applying…and you're back to the potential rejection problem! as already mentioned

Against question 2:
By income and property value themselves I'm a go for any institution…..BUT I don't fit the picket fence style of borrower. I have steadily maintained my current mortgage for 5 years, and have maintained my work type and income (when I need to / choose to) for 8 years at high/increasing levels well within paying capacity. in addition, the property in question is itself is right in the city, and so at least fairly well protected from market price fluctuations – adding to the bank's security.
The bit that makes me not exactly picket fence is that during that same last 5 years of my current mortgage I have had a 2 year well-paid contract on overseas assignment, 4 months off while travelling, various well paid other contract roles which were each in the same type of work but were each less than 6 months duration, and 5 months overseas teaching english and volunteering as a lifestyle choice……yes, I've mixed it up. But again, I have covered my mortgage for ALL of it, and my income, when I work in my ''usual field'', has kept increasing. Still, apparently some institutions don't want me just because I'm not ''stable'' enough….(To which I can only say – (1) I've still had the money to pay and (2) the combination of my funds plus my lifestyle have been good in that time precisely BECAUSE I mixed it up and changed jobs etc!!)

Now…it may be in the end that ''the computer'' at any financing institution can only accept 3 variables, and it may be the computer will say no based on those 3 variables. And if that's so, no matter how I disagree, I guess there won't be much I can do about it. But I at least want to have enough info that isn't coming just from the banks (prefer it from other people like you!!), to know that I've done all I could…

This is a really complicated one, you should contact a specialist mortgage broker in Australia. there is one called the Home Loan Experts who are in Australia specialising in lending to contractors and non-residents (people living or working overseas). one thing is for sure though, you should not put in applications without knowing if they will be approved or not, otherwise you will damage your credit score by having excessive enquiries.

The Australian banks aren't particularly flexible with employment unfortunately. the modern day workplace has changed and lots of people enjoy a flexible work / lifestyle balance and have no issues earning as much as they want to. the banks just don't get it!

LinkedIn Profiles To Career Introductions: When You Can’t Recommend Your Friend

We’ve all been there at some time or another: A friend asks us to make an introduction to our high-powered contact in the industry, or to pass along her resume for a job at our company. although we’re always grateful when someone makes an introduction on our behalf, we feel uncomfortable doing the same for this friend. Maybe it’s because she wouldn’t be right for the job she wants us to suggest her for, or because her qualifications aren’t all they could be, and or even because she might make a negative impression on our contacts. We want to be supportive, but uncomfortable truth is that we don’t think it’s going to work out for our friend in this case—and that it might make us look bad in the process.

If you encounter this career etiquette conundrum, don’t beat yourself up for being uncharitable. There are other ways to help your friend and still avoid the lose-lose of a disingenuous recommendation. Here’s how to work it:

This situation is perhaps easiest to handle when you’re approached by a friend or acquaintance from outside of your professional life. Ellen recounted an instance for us in which she was asked to make a job recommendation for someone she knew from a volunteer committee. Ellen replied that she was happy to let the director know that this person applied and was a friend, but that she didn’t know the person’s work in a professional capacity. “I could certainly say she had been a committed volunteer, but I could not serve as a professional reference.”

Financial etiquette expert Farnoosh Torabi suggests offering a different sort of help in lieu of an actual job recommendation. For example, if you’re asked to connect someone on LinkedIn, try saying, “Honestly, I don’t really feel comfortable recommending anyone on LinkedIn… but I’m happy to help you with your cover letter or resume.” Similarly, Ellen suggests offering the name of an organization or company that your friend should look into—without offering the name of a contact she should approach. Another helpful suggestion is to have your friend contact her college alumni network or career services to see if she can find the name of someone at her target company or in her target profession with whom she can have an informational interview.

We recommend that you refuse as gently as possible by offering some other form of assistance, but if your friend continues to push back, end the conversation by saying, “‘I’m not sure I’d be the best reference.’” Leave it at that, Ellen recommends, as there’s no point beating around the bush by claiming to be too busy. regardless of your situation, focus on the emotional support and encouragement you can offer rather than the material help you can’t offer. Emphasize that you value the friendship and that you’re reluctant to provide the recommendation because it’s professionally inappropriate, not because you’re making a statement about your friend’s work on the whole.

I did the same thing put £10 diesel in my petrol car what can i do ?

Put as much petrol/gasoline in your car as you can and keep filling your tank until you have eventually burned that crap out of there. I am guessing that 10 pounds of diesel isn't really that much. I'm answering from across the pond so my measurements might not be exact.

Siphon what you can or remove the pipe to the carb/injector – run the pump until dry and then fill up with petrol. Job done – good Luck. (Replace the fuel filter)

£10 is about 2 gallons u need to drain out the tank it should have a drain plug on the bottom remove the diesel then put petrol in it will b fine then

Take it to a car store or cyphen it all out!
