Our nose has the strongest sensory organ for that is why we always want to smell good. like preference for food, people have also different preferences when it comes to scent. some people like the smell of spicy wood for men, some women like fruit scents. some men prefer sweet yet sensuous scent for their partner.

Many women wonder what the best scent is. something not too strong but powerful, something not fruit scent but sweet. Choosing the perfume you like is not the only thing that we will have to consider. We must also consider several other factors like; if the perfume suits you, your personality and also the occasion. Always have someone who is honest about their opinion because buying perfume is an art. It can be mastered with the right help and advice.

Consider perfume as the best accessory any woman can wear. We have to make sure that the perfume that we are wearing accentuates our personality. It can actually leave a lasting impression to people that we have first hand contact with.

Let me give you the 5 best perfumes that surely suit the women of 2011.

First on the list would be 212 perfume by Carolina Herrera – it has the scent of the typical New York city air on it that’s why it’s best loved perfumes by men. It renders a very wintery feeling to the person wearing it.

Next in line is Brit by Burberry – It has the strong tones of green almond, subtle hints of amber, tonka bean and mahogany, vanilla, lime and frosted pears. Combining all these makes a superb fragrance that can be worn anytime.

Paco Rabanne’s Lady Million is third on the list. this will give a woman a sultry sexy fragrance with a combination of fruity and fresh tones. It also has hints of musk and amber, honey and hints of raspberry that makes it even desirable.

Layering Fragrances: Make Your Own Signature Scent

Many women have had the experience of getting ready for work in the morning, or for some event in the evening, and looking at her collection of perfumes and just not knowing what to wear. but did you know you can combine your fragrances and make your own unique signature scent? Combine a Citrus and a Green fragrance, or a Floral and Oriental. there are many ways to combine perfumes to make a unique fragrance, but there is an art to this. Combining the wrong fragrances can end with something that will have people asking what perfume you’re wearing, and not in a good way.

The term layering fragrances can mean just wearing the same fragrance in different forms, such as body wash, perfume and shower gel. but you can also layer fragrances by combining different perfumes and make a signature scent. The best way to start is by adding fragrances very gradually. A popular fragrance combination is a Floral perfume and an Oriental perfume, commonly dubbed Floriental. I tend to like this combination as it is a perfect mixture of sweet and sensual. start with the more delicate fragrance, and spray a little on your wrist. Then, add a small spritz of the more intense fragrance, and rub your wrists together. A good example of a combination is something like Euphoria by Calvin Klein, which is very light and gentle. Spray that first, then add a tiny bit of whatever Oriental fragrance you choose. something like Opium by YSL would be a good choice. Feel free to be creative. most perfumes in the Oriental and Floral families work well together as a combination.

Try combining a Green fragrance with an Oceanic fragrance. They are both clean and fresh and inspired by the outdoors, and compliment each other very nicely. Some good combinations are Chanel No. 19 with cool Water by Davidoff, or Sung by Alfred Sung mixed with Giorgio Beverly Hills Ocean Dream.

If you want to be daring, try matching a Woody (Chypre) or Spicy fragrance with a Floral one. Spicy and Woody fragrances go together well, since they are both warm, musky and comforting. but adding a Floral fragrance to either of them will make a truly unique signature scent. try something like Ralph Lauren Romance with Lancome’s Tresor, or Chanel No. 5 with Chanel Coco. Chypre and Spicy fragrances can be overpowering if you spray too much, so use be careful to use it very modestly.

Remember, there are no rules in layering fragrances, so feel free to let go and be creative. use your judgment and spray lightly. It is always better to smell of no perfume than bad perfume.

Perfumes – How to Choose the Best One For Yourself

With the market being profuse by way of a wide array of perfumes, it is not surprising that people tend to get confused while zeroing on the right one. Apart from price and brand names, there are many other points that are to be considered while buying one. here are a few categories which I use personally:

French types: Most of the perfumes from France have a sort of trademark character to them. the fragrances are soft, floral, and tend to favor the powdery. these stand for sophistication, feminity, and charm. French scents tend to be more mature and are great for women in the business world or females with classic tastes and sensibilities. E.g. Chanel, Nina Ricci, Yves St. Laurent.

American types: these ones tend to favor orange and citrus notes, or have exuberant florals. Most women can wear these fragrances as they tend to compliment most skin chemistries. e.g. ‘Beautiful’ by Estee Lauder, Romance by Ralph Lauren, Eternity and Obsession by Calvin Klein.

Fresh scented types: these ones are designed to smell like soap or clean air. the best example in this range is Grace by Philosophy etc. Calvin Klein’s one is the brand I prefer to buy in this category as it is both a mens’ perfume as well as womens’ perfume.

Based on occasions: you should always wear perfumes based on different occasions. some are a lot heavier than others. Light and refreshing fragrances are good for daytime wear and the summer months, whereas warmer, more sensual scents are perfect for evenings and special occasions e.g. the Little black dress perfume or Elizabeth Ardens Provocative woman. Wear scents like chocolate, strawberry or fruity smells for a day out at the beach. whereas, if you are in a business meeting you need to keep it subtle and go for musky, woody and more earthy scents.

Whatever perfume you wear always remember overdoing it only makes it uncomfortable for others in the vicinity. Just remember, you just have to spread a whiff not reinforce your brand.

However, this list is not exhaustive so I recommend buying cheaper testers or handbag-sized bottles. this can be a great way of trying something new without spending a fortune.

I prefer online marts to shop for perfumes, as they come with a great variety and with heavy discounts for time to time. Try online if you know your personal choice and of course read the description properly that is offered along with it

Perfumes – A Quick Guide to Herbaceous Fragrances

Perfumes are classified into different categories based on their ingredients, character, and notes to make it easier for customers to identify and buy the fragrance of their choice. for those who have a passion for perfumes and also for collectors who wish to know everything there is about the world of perfume, classifying perfumes into different groups helps them to make a detailed study of their subject.

Further benefits from classifying perfumes enable a buyer to work out if what she’s hoping to buy will suit her body chemistry, whether it would click with her moods and trends, whether the ingredients contained therein will cause an allergic reaction in her skin and also if it will be the ideal gift for the person she’s hoping to buy it for.

Herbaceous perfumes are not generally known to be as popular as for instance floral or citrus. However, there are certain perfumes, especially for men that have received acclaim over a period of time. Herbaceous scents usually have herbaceous top notes with base notes of lavender, oak moss and coumarin and depend on aromatic chemicals to produce notes that blend well. Herbaceous scents have been described in the past as fougere or ferny. However this was a fantasy note since ferns are scentless and the ferny fragrance was created from using largely lavender. Green has also been a term used to describe this type of fragrance.

Listed below is a list of Herbaceous Perfumes that have been popular for some time now.

YSL River Gauche Pour Homme
A masculine fragrance carrying notes of rosemary, star anise, bergamot, lavender, cloves, vetiver and patchouli considered to be an aromatic perfume.

Christian Dior’s Eau Savage
Very popular at one time is a classic eau de toilette with notes of Rosemary, Basil, Water Jasmine, Lemon and Vetiver.

Body Kuros by Yves St. Laurent
Created in 2000 with a fragrant note of eucalyptus fading down to camphorwood and berizoin mingling with mace and cedarwood.

Patou Pour Homme
A gentleman’s scent and for one who is comfortable with life with notes of lavender, tarragon, hot pepper, bergamot, cinnamon, geranium, leather, amber, Carnation and Vanilla.

Annick-Goutal Eau de’Hadrien
An aromatic combination of lemon, cypress and grapefruit reminding one of the Mediterranean heat and the shade of lemon trees. Winner of FIFI 2008 Hall of Fame Award.

Herbaceous fragrances tend to be popular in Summer as they are often light and airy fragrances.

Best Colognes For First Dates

The first date is the most important one. I know it’s cliche, but it’s absolutely true in this case. Making a bad impression on a first date can put an end to a potential relationship before it even got off the ground. think about some of the first dates you’ve been on. Chances are, within the first few minutes of the date, you had already sized up the person you were out with and decided whether or not she’d be a good match for you.

Maybe something as simple as the clothes she was wearing or the sound of her voice turned you off. maybe it was her perfume. I know that I’ve been turned off by perfumes before, and I know that girls are just as easily turned off by colognes sometimes. Don’t make the mistake of wearing a strong cologne that ends the date before it ever started, and stick to something neutral. I’m going to list two to avoid, and then two to consider.

Colognes to avoid on a first date

Angel cologne. This is one of the sweetest smelling colognes imaginable. She might even think you’re wearing perfume.

Joop cologne. While many people love the smell, others are equally turned off. Avoid anything polarizing.

Colognes to consider on a first date:

Armani Code. A crisp, clean smell that doesn’t come off too strong.

Hugo Boss cologne. another similar, neutrally pleasant scent that won’t send a fierce message one way or another.

Wait until date number two to bring the big boys out

Review of Estee Lauder Beautiful Perfume

One of the most talked about and highly recommended perfumes on the market today is the Estee Lauder Beautiful Perfume. it is, in my opinion, one of Estee Lauder’s best smelling perfume. there are lots of different perfumes which can make you feel pretty but this one takes the cake as it truly does make you feel beautiful.

When they set out to create this fragrance they had a vision. They wanted every woman who wore this scent to feel as if she was the loveliest woman in the room. I for one can say that they accomplished this vision. No one can wear this perfume for long without getting a ton of compliments. it has such a great appeal that other women just can’t help but ask what the name of the scent is.

This is on of the those feminine perfumes that makes everyone turn heads, in a good way. it has a nice flower scent which is due to all the different flowers that were put in. They call Estee Lauder Beautiful Perfume the fragrance of a thousand flowers. it got this name because they used over 2000 different flowers when perfecting this scent. it did take some time to get the right blend of flowers though because they had to work with creative experts who knew which blends worked best. All this testing made Beautiful by Estee Lauder one of the most complicated perfume formulas in history. it is considered one the finest perfume ever made due to this long and complex formula. the fragrance notes are blooming fresh cut flowers, rose, jasmine, and carnation. this is accompanied by fruity notes of fresh citrus, melons, peaches and plums.

This fragrance can be worn very casually as it does not overpower your senses. just one spray is enough to last you all day without any trouble. with that being said I like to save this scent for special occasions. it has such a fresh classy smell that it needs to be saved for special compassion’s. the romantic and tender scent is perfect for dates and will have your man all over you. They just can’t get over the great smell. with over 200 ingredients in the bottle, you can be sure that you will smell unique and classy all night. the cool thing about Beautiful is that it smells so much better on a women skin then it does on guys. you can really smell the difference by testing this yourself. it was made to compliment every woman’s unique DNA giving everyone of these women a scent they can truly call their own. this may be the reason why so many consider Estee Lauder Beautiful Perfume their signature scent.

Beautiful by Estee Lauder can be compared to a beautiful garden of wonderfully fragrance and very pretty blooms on a summers day. the delicate, memorable scent of this fragrance can best be described with one word, Beautiful. Estee Lauder’s Beautiful Perfume has been making women feel beautiful for 25 years and will continue to do so for many more. Don’t miss out on this wonderful creation from Estee Lauder.

Versace Fragrances Throughout the Years

Luxury and class are two of the things the Versace perfume is well-known for. They are a favorite of the elite. since 1981, the House of Versace has been producing fragrances. It was first manufactured by Gianni Versace, who is well known for his luxurious style and elegance. They released the scent to embody the luxurious man who has tastes that are a lot more refined. When the first fragrance was released in 1981, it opened up a lot of new possibilities to men who wanted something more refined and luxurious themselves. to make the perfect masculine perfume, Giovanni Versace sought the help of the best in the perfume business. Jean-Pierre Bethouart, Nathalie Feisthauer, Lucien Piquet and Alberto Morillas were all a part of this project. Ever since, Versace has produced thirty nine perfumes, catering both to men and women.

Versus Donna by Versace was one of the more notable perfumes. Released in 1992, it has an Asian floral scent that’s quite hard to resist. It has notes from raspberry, plum and gourmand. It also has a touch of fresh bergamot, spicy nutmeg, orange and green accords and violets as the top scent. They give any wearer a treat for the senses. the heart of the whole fragrance lies in five scents: jasmine, tuberose, lily-of-the-valley and sandalwood. the base, on the other hand, is made out of amber, powdery vanilla, iris, benzoin and musk cedar. as a whole, this unique fragrance has woodsy scents mixed with floral ones that really have a lot of character. if you’re planning to buy a perfume with your partner, this is perfect paired with the Uomo fragrance for men. both have some of the same base tones, but they are both unique.

After the death of Gianni Versace, Donatella Versace took control of the company. She pioneered the release of Blonde, which is one of the strongest fragrances in the bunch. It is perfect for those who have a bold personality, and really want to get a kick out of life. the scent is very intense, and has a very floral scent. However, unlike Versus Donna, you’ll find that this one is more seductive. It truly captures what it’s like to be blonde. It uses notes of Pitsoprum flowers, orange blossom, violets, bergamot and gardenia. Donatella Versace uses a stronger flower for the heart; ylang-ylang as well as carnation. to round up all of the scents, sensual musk, benzoin and sandalwood were used. It is dedicated to women all over the world who do not think about compromising what they believe in.

In 2009, Versace released Vernese perfume. It has an energetic vibe, and can make you feel refreshed. It is also high sensual, and calls to mind the sandy beaches and gardens. It has a youthful vibe that really captures what it’s like to live in the lap of luxury. if you want something that will make you feel fabulous from top to toe, this is definitely a scent to consider.

Angel Perfumes by Thierry Mugler

In Paris, Thierry Mugler, age 20, was a window designer for a trendy boutique and a freelance stylist for various fashion houses. he presented his first collection in 1973, which was well received, and subsequently started up the fashion house that bears his name. his style is always avant-garde and angels are his recurring theme, symbolizing the qualities he sees in woman – soft yet strong, innocent yet seductive. his first perfume, Angel, was designed to be quite different from others at that time – essentially it should not fade away when fashions changed. Angel is classified as a refreshing, oriental, woody fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of vanilla, sandalwood, and patchouli. Accompanied by fruity notes of fresh citrus, melons, peaches, and plums The bottle was to be based on a star of blue-tinged crystal, another of Mugler’s concepts, but for contrast with the coldness of the glass the perfume was to be warm and earthy, reminiscent of childhood experiences of fairgrounds, cotton candy, and chocolate mixed with an elixir of fruit and caramel. it took 18 months to devise this complicated fragrance, which is issued in up to eau de parfum concentration.

Chanel no 5 by Chanel

There is no more famous perfume than Chanel No5, which Marilyn Monroe famously confessed was all she wore in bed, and no more legendary person in the world of fashion and perfume than Coco Chanel, who in 1921 selected it from five samples given to her by its creator, Ernest Beaux. she kept the number because it was her lucky number: her collections were always shown on the fifth day of the fifth month. Chanel No5 is classified as a refined, floral, soft fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of modern florals, and balanced notes. It’s long-Lasting, great value, Subtle, Alluring, Clean & Fresh and will draw you lots of compliments. Chanel makes all its own fragrances with their nose, Jacques Polge and retains special links with jasmine and may rose growers in Grasse to ensure it gets jasmine of an exceptionally high quality. For many years Chanel used a number of famous faces to advertise No5, including Catherine Deneuve (in the United States), and most recently Carole Bouquet, who is seen to represent the ideal Frenchwoman of today. it is suitable for daily use, work, special occasions and signature fragrance.

Joy Perfumes by Jean Patou

Joy Perfume is launched by the design house of Jean Patou in 1930. Jean Patou was a great innovator. Born in 1887, he moved to Paris in 1910 founded his fashion and perfume house in 1919, and died in 1936 aged 49. he was essentially a man of the 1920s an 1930s and he seems to have come into the fashion world quite suddenly, for we hear little of him until he presented his first collection in 1919. in 1930, Jean Patou wanted to send a gift to his many regular international clients who he knew would be unable to visit Paris that year. he asked Almeras to create something very strong and simple, and it has to be made regardless of the cost of the ingredients. it is the quality of the rose and jasmine used which makes Joy so special; one ounce, it is said, requires over 10,000 jasmine flowers and 28 dozen roses. Joy is classified as a refined, flowery fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of rare oils including jasmine and rose. but Joy does not just smell of Rose and Jasmine, it smells huge, luscious and utterly wonderful. it is suitable for daily use, work and evening wear.

Dune Perfumes by Christian Dior

Christian Dior established Parfums Dior with the launch of miss Dior in 1947. he had always been attracted to fragrances and once confessed that as a child he had never dreamed of becoming a dress-designer; his early memories of women were not of their dresses but the perfumes they wore. Altogether Parfums Christian Dior has launched 18 fragrances and Dior perfumes are always innovative, designed to set new trends. Dune which won the 1993 FiFi award for best woman’s fragrance, introduced the oceanic note which has been popular ever since and made it Dior’s best selling perfume. L’Heure Bleue Perfumes by Guerlain

In 1828, Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain opened his first little store in Paris, he began by producing different personalized fragrances for each of his clients. With his reputation growing, he gained a royal warrant from the Queen of Belgium and in 1853, his Eau Imperiale perfume delighted the Empress Euginie. he was appointed his Majesty’s Official Perfumer and went on to provide perfumes for half the royal houses in Europe. Since then, Guerlain has so many top-class perfumes and the company has produced well over 300 fragrances. but I am just going to attempt to describe the best of the lot, the L’Heure Bleue. in 1912, it was Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain’s grandson, Jacques Guerlain that created this famous, innovative floral-oriental L’Heure Bleue, it means ‘the blue hour’. L’Heure Bleue is a blend of roses, iris, and jasmine. L’Heure Bleue is most certainly a feminine, timeless stunner. For women favoring subtle, slightly sweet and even less spicy fragrances, this classic scent must be tried.
