HIV Symptoms and When to Get Tested

There is a common misconception among many people these days that HIV home tests are unnecessary for them. While some people still believe that the disease only exists among prostitutes, homosexuals, and IV drug users, the HIV statistics prove that people of any age, race, sexual preference, or lifestyle can contract the disease. While sexual intercourse is by far the most common means of transmission, any contact with the blood or bodily fluids of an infected person can result in transmitting the illness. It is very important to understand that anyone who is sexually active or comes into contact with the bodily fluids of others is at risk of developing HIV.

Another common misconception among many is that HIV testing is only needed if you begin to show symptoms of being sick. While HIV does have numerous symptoms, it is important to know that many people do not show HIV symptoms at all for months or even years. While diseases such as herpes and gonorrhea have specific symptoms, HIV is an immune deficiency, which means that its main effect is that it makes people more susceptible to other illnesses. for this reason, people who are HIV positive often think that a cold or flu is often a symptom only of itself and miss being diagnosed altogether.

In most cases, the early development of HIV is entirely symptom free. People who do show HIV/ AIDS symptoms during this stage often mistake them for the flu, as a fever, muscle pain, and swollen lymph glands are the most common effects. Later symptoms of the disease can range from chronic diarrhea to sudden weight loss, sores on the mouth and skin, rashes, exhaustion, and sweating as well as chronic yeast infections. because all of these symptoms can also be found with other illnesses, it is important to undergo regular HIV testing to ensure that your status is negative. when diagnosed early, many people can live remarkably long and healthy lives with HIV.

HIV becomes detectable anywhere from a few weeks to a few months after transmission. As the disease begins to spread within the body, the immune system will begin to develop antibodies. The presence of these antibodies is what allows a diagnosis to be made by doctors. While they often develop within a few weeks, it is important to be tested for at least a year after contact with someone who is positive and to get tested regularly if you are sexually active or are exposed to bodily fluids.

Testing for HIV can be done in many ways by doctors. for people seeking a confidential and private way to test for HIV antibodies, an HIV home test allows you to perform a simple needle stick and mail the sample to a lab for rapid analysis. you will never be asked to give personally identifiable information and will be able to learn your results from the privacy of your own home. The test is virtually painless, and results can be available anywhere from the next day to a few weeks. Knowing your HIV status is crucial, and home HIV test kits make it easier than ever to always have the answer.

Using Oil Instead of Talc for Waxing

Traditionally when waxing is taught students are advised to apply a layer of talcum powder to the area being waxed. This achieves several things, it keeps the area dry, it makes the treatment a little more comfortable as the wax will stick to the hairs rather then the skin.

The use of an oil may seem a little unusual as we are taught to use a pre-wax cleanser to remove dirt and oils from the skin before waxing. But once therapists have tried waxing with oil they rarely return to powder.

The oil works by providing a lipid barrier between the skin and the wax – in essence a very thin oil barrier. Since the wax doesn’t adhere to the skin its removal is easier and less painful for the client. When using oil for intimate waxing where the skin is very thin and fragile this helps reduce the risk of abrasions or skin lifting.

It is important to choose an appropriate oil, ideally a very light oil. if the oil is too thick or heavy you will find the wax won’t adhere. I personally find that Perron Rigot Jasmin Oil is one of the best products around for this.

When using an oil before applying wax you need to remember the rule of thumb less is more, it needs to be used very sparingly. Prepare the area of the client to be waxed with a pre-waxing cleanser such as Perron Rigot Blue Lotion and then apply a tiny amount of oil to your hands – just a few drops. Cover the palms of your hands and then rub the oil over the area you are preparing to wax.

Remember you are only applying a sparse covering, if you find you have put too much oil on the skin just wipe over with a wax strip or piece of couch roll. You will find that this can leave a perfect amount of oil on the skin.

When applying the wax to the skin if you find that it doesn’t adhere to the skin and slips around don’t panic. just remove the wax as you would normally and then wipe over the area with a wax strip.

When waxing large or intricate areas you may find that you need to add more oil as you go on to keep the skin protected. Don’t worry about applying too much, you can always wipe any excess off.

Oil can also be used as a great post wax product when using warm strip waxes for removing any sticky residue. Once you have finished waxing, before you apply your post wax lotion or product apply a generous amount of oil to your hands and rub over the area, then use your cleanser product on a cotton pad to remove the oil and wax residue. Once cleansed you can apply your chosen post wax product.

To recap, for use before waxing use sparingly, for after waxing use generously.

The Steps to Laser Hair Removal Treatment

A laser hair removal treatment is a permanent solution to unwanted body hair, which utilizes a laser to damage hair follicles, making it impossible for hair to grow in the same area. Treatment performed during the growth phase will result in permanent removal, however most patients will require several appointments in order to obtain the desired result, as not every hair will be in the growth phase at the same exact time. In this article, we will outline the steps to obtaining your quality laser hair removal treatment.

Step 1 – The first step is finding your technician. many plastic surgery facilities and dermatological practices offer laser hair removal treatments in addition to other services. Additionally, there are independent specialists that operate on their own and without doctor affiliation. it is important, when searching for your specialist that you make certain that the one you choose is qualified to operate the equipment and has a fair amount of experience.

Step 2 – Obviously not all skin and hair is the same. Some individuals do not possess the proper hair and skin tone needed to ensure a successful result. Lasers use pigments in the hair as a way to absorb light and heat, and thus, individuals with darker skin tones may be at risk for skin damage. Speak with your specialist in order to avoid any issues prior to your appointment.

Likewise, individuals with blonde hair may not respond at all to the treatments. Due to the fact that blond hair has such a small amount of melanin, the laser tends to be less effective.

Step 3 – perhaps the toughest and most frustrating part of the ordeal is growing out the hair that you want removed. this means no shaving, no creams; nothing. The laser works through the hair itself, and as such, it will not be possible to a patient who has recently shaved.

Step 4 – though it will depend on the individual patient, you will more than likely be required to return for a series of additional treatments until a time when the hair has stopped growing back completely. As we touched on earlier, it may take a while to zap all of the hairs in the area at the correct time. Not every hair will be in the growth process as the same exact time, and so it may take some time before you are able to fully enjoy the results you’re after. Stick to your appointment schedule and complete the entire process and you will never have to be shave or be treated again.

Step 5 – As a final thought, it’s important for every patient to be certain of their decision before moving forward with their treatments. Keep in mind that if you ever feel the need to grow out the area in question that you will be unable to, as the results are permanent. Treat it as you would a tattoo, except instead of a little added color, the result will be nothing at all.

Why Fake Tanning is Good For You

I will be the first to admit that I’m addicted to the sun, I love it I’m sure I’m not the only one; there is nothing nicer than lying in the sun without a care in the world because of this it is so easy to get addicted to the sun and that is when you start to put your health at risk.

We’ve all heard about the risks of too much sun exposure, some of us understand the risks while others don’t take them seriously enough Skin cancer is a big killer and is often caused by too much sun exposure or spending too much time in a sun bed We all love that tanned complexion but risking your life for it is pure stupidity

So what are the alternatives? Well of course limiting your time spent in the sun is the most important thing, of course this means you can’t work on your tan, and that is where fake tanning comes in. Many people don’t like the idea of fake tanning but the main reason for this is the amount of poor quality products that leave people looking like oranges The truth is, there are some fantastic fake tanning products out there, it’s just a matter of finding them. I have tried most on the market and discovered the good the bad and the ugly

With fake tanning you can give yourself a nice tanned complexion in a fraction of the time and without any risks at all to your health. not only that but if you buy a high quality product you also get skin care as well (some of the good ones contain moisturizing agents) so I guess technically speaking fake tanning is good for, right? Well that’s what I usually tell myself If you do it right and with a good product then most people cannot tell the difference between a real tan and a fake tan

As far as recommendations go I would go for either St Tropez or Joliese sunless tanner. I love St Tropez but I find that the tan itself doesn’t last that long. Joliese on the other hand has all the great qualities of St Tropez but with a longer lasting tan (You can check my before and after pics using Joliese by following the link at the bottom of this article)

Whilst fake tanning will never give the nice feeling of spending time in the sun, it is certainly much safer. Don’t get me wrong though, I still love to spend quality time tanning in the sun, but I make sure I limit myself as I know how easy it is to get addicted and risk my health. So for now, happy fake tanning everyone.

Thin Condoms Give a More Natural Feeling

Many men and women do feel uncomfortable using condoms during sexual intercourse. This is true particularly when using the thick condoms which sometimes force people to shy away from using the rubber at all resulting in a higher risk of pregnancy and transmission of infectious diseases. But this should not be a major problem now as thin condoms are already available in the market.

Thin condoms are much preferred as they give a more natural feeling to the users and even to women. and since these thin condoms provide a more natural sensation, there’s increased stimulation during intercourse.

Many companies have responded to people’s need for a thinner condom to enable them to enjoy their sexual relationship. they have taken steps to reduce the thickness of condoms to further encourage sexually active adults to use them for their protection.

While thinner condoms are a more attractive option to the thicker ones, some people may doubt its effectiveness. But before you doubt its capability, it’s important to understand that condoms pass through several stages of testing before they go out in the market. they are required to meet national, regional and international standards for burst pressure and tensile strength to ensure that they’re leak-free.

The single wall thickness is normally used to determine a condom’s thinness. This is done through a weight measurement. The burst pressure test, on the other hand, involves a condom being inflated at a fixed rate of airflow while its pressure and volume of air are monitored. This testing covers a number of condoms from every batch. The thinner the condom, the lower is the pressure required to inflate and eventually burst it.

The material is also of utmost importance in making thin condoms. This is particularly a major concern during the modulus testing. Modulus refers to the measure of stiffness such that a material with lower modulus means it is more elastic. During testing, as the modulus of the condom material is increased, so is its burst pressure.

Most condoms are made from natural rubber latex (NRL). However, with thin condoms, this natural rubber latex is typically combined with polyurethane latex (PUL). with this blend, it is possible to make thin condoms that are less stiff and meet international standards. Studies have found that thin condoms made from this blend have a higher burst pressure compared to the pure natural rubber latex condoms.

With all these factors considered, thin is definitely in when it comes to condoms. It’s safe, more natural and lets you enjoy great pleasure during sexual intercourse.

Tanning-should I do it or no???????

If I burn will i get skin cancer?
If I don't burn will I?
I want to use a tanning lotion called "Ocean Potion xcelerator spray" if I use that will I burn worse or tan?
Even If I tan can I get cancer?
How can you tan with sunscreen?
Thanks:)

lol you cant get skin cancer right away its for doing it over time. and you do tan with sunscreen sunscreen just prevents you from burning

Just go get a fake, spray tan.

XD

You only get skin cancer if you do it a lot, if you wana be tan why not? right

If you want to tan, do it in the regular sun. Don't do a tanning bed as these are horrible for you.

Yes, if you burn you are increasing your risk of skin cancer.
Yes, if you tan you are increasing your risk of skin cancer.
Yes, using an xcelerator spray will probably cause you to burn worse as it most likely does not contain any SPF.

A great tan is one that is gotten over time, not one that is attempted immediately. the best tans are also the ones that are acquired while using SPF because you won't burn, it will just be a nice gradual golden brown.

They make SPF lotions specifically for tanning. look at Banana Boat products.

Skin cancer is a funny thing. It's not something that "only happens over a long period of time," it's something that happens when you damage skin cells and it can happen quickly, it can happen slowly, or it can just not happen period.
Skin cancer isn't prejudiced based on age, race, or skin color. 16 year old girls have gotten skin cancer, just look it up. I'm sure they weren't tanning since they were babies but probably only a couple years. States are actually thinking of making it illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to use tanning beds in salons.

tanning is VERY bad on your skin. you wont get cancer the first time you tan, but after you use a tanning bed a few times, melanoma can occur. tanning in a tanning bed is equivalent to staying out in the sun all day without any sunscreen; you will burn and there is a big chance that you might develop cancer. tanning outside the old fashioned way for a few hours with sunscreen is more gentle on you and your skin.

Sun screen, depending on the SPF level, can get you tan and keeps you from burning.

After years of tanning, both inside and out, you can get skin cancer.
If you're family has a history, especially, but anyone can. If you have moles on your body; they are more prone to melanoma.

The sun's rays dehydrate your skin; make it look older. Just go to a beach and check out the skin of some really, really darkly tanned people. then ask them their age. lol

I used to 'sun bathe' when I was a kid. It was never publicized then. I remember staying out so long once, trying to tan, I got 3rd degree burns and blisters. Now, that was ugly.
Now I use SPF 70 and stay out of the sun, if I can.
It's your body and your life. Remember, you only get one tho.

Urge Incontinence – How to Stop Urine Leakage

Urge incontinence is an embarrassing problem that often affects elderly people, among others. a sudden strong urge to urinate is accompanied by involuntary urine leakage. this may happen unexpectedly at night, even causing a person to wet the bed.

Who Is at Risk for Developing Urge Incontinence?

  • Older folks, as mentioned above.
  • Women going through menopause, or post-menopausal women
  • People who are overweight
  • Ladies who are pregnant, or who have just had a baby
  • A person with a urinary tract infection
  • Men who have had prostate surgery
  • Someone who has nerve damage from an injury, a stroke, or diabetes
  • A person suffering from multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, or Alzheimer’s

What Causes a Weak Bladder?

Abnormal bladder contractions are usually the culprit. Normally, the urinary sphincter controls the passage of urine. But sometimes the contractions are so strong that they override the sphincter. this causes involuntary leaking.

These abnormally strong contractions may be the result of an injury to the spinal cord. Nerve damage may also result from a stroke, or from a disease such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, or multiple sclerosis.

Sometimes there just doesn’t seem to be any reason for the contractions. They just happen.

Are there Any Non-Invasive Treatments?

Kegel exercises are very effective in strengthening the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles support all the organs in the area, so it’s important to keep them toned.

Kegels are very easy to do. just contract the muscles, as you would to stop the flow of urine. Hold them tense for three seconds, and relax for three seconds. Do three sets of ten several times a day. As time passes, you’ll be able to gradually increase your time for tensing and relaxing to ten seconds.

You may also find biofeedback to be helpful in learning how your body functions. Two techniques are used: timed voiding and training.

With timed voiding, you’ll keep track of when you need to go and when you start leaking. Once you find the pattern, you can go to the bathroom before the time you expect leakage to occur.

Training involves increasing the time between bathroom breaks. You may want to start with an hour between potty visits. Once this is working, start increasing the time interval, perhaps to 90 minutes. You can gradually work up to three to four hours between visits.

Natural Remedies for Urge Incontinence

Water-soluble pumpkin seed extract has been showing promise as a natural treatment for this problem. Pumpkin seed has been used by many different cultures over the centuries to treat urinary problems, and it’s safe and effective.

Soy germ extract is another promising treatment, especially for women who are going through menopause, or who are post-menopausal. Declining estrogen levels often lead to a loss of muscle tone, which can cause leakage. Soy contains a natural phytoestrogen, which may help to solve the problem.

You don’t need to just “live with” a weak bladder. Kegel exercises and herbal treatments may be effective ways to manage this problem.
