Celebrating Anniversaries 1 – 5 With Perfumes

Most of us enjoy a whiff of a delicious perfume, either on ourselves or on somebody else. instead of buying just any perfume for an anniversary, why not get one that directly has something to do with the theme of the celebrated anniversary? There are infinite amounts of options out there, so you do have to know about your partner’s preferences. if a woman like musky notes, don’t bring home a fruity perfume to play it safe, I would recommend that you buy the smallest size possible, so it’s not that much of a loss if he or she doesn’t like it (and people sometimes have adverse reactions to certain scents). plus that way, he or she will have used it up by the next anniversary and you can go out and buy more

Anniversary 1 is Paper: we start out pretty lame, since I could not find any perfume that contained the word paper in it. but, there are cards with perfumed inserts, which might be most appropriate for women.

Anniversary 2 is Cotton and we have a few more options here. Cotton is associated with the scent of freshly washed linen, so most of the perfumes have a lighter note. for a woman get Cotton Splash Perfume by Marc Jacobs, White Linen Breeze by Estee Lauder or Crisp Cotton Perfume Oil sold in The Body Shop. for men there are not that many options; you could go with Cotton Candy Perfume by Demeter for men and women, or Lucky You by Liz Claiborne, since one of its ingredients is Cotton flower.

Anniversary 3 is Leather. A scent mostly associated with men (because of the whole cowboy thing, I guess), you have a lot of option for the guys: Containing the word leather in it’s name are a series of English Leather by Dana, English Leather Wind Drift, English Leather Timberline and English Leather Musk.

The following fragrances for men carry a note of leather: John Varvatos, Polo by Ralph Lauren, Carlos Santana, Chaps by Ralph Lauren, Dunhill Fresh by Alfred Dunhill, Gentleman by Givenchy, Gucci Pour Homme by Gucci, Nicole Miller for Men, Safari by Ralph Lauren and many, many more. You can always ask for more fragrances with a leather note at the perfume store, should none of these appeal to you.

For women it’s the same thing: there are only few perfumes that have the word itself in the name. The only ones I found are Leather for Women by Demeter and Aigner in Leather by Etienne Aigner. but when it comes to perfumes with a note of leather, you have more options: Cabochard by Parfums Gres, Fendi, Habanita by Molinard, Image by Nino Cerruti, no. 19 by Chanel, Caleche by Hermes and more.

For anniversary 4, Fruit or Flowers you will have so many options that I can’t possibly name all of them. most of the perfumes have both flower and fruit notes, so if you want to go with one of the two only, you’ll have to speak with a knowledgeable salesperson in the perfume store.

Only a few options for her are Fruit de Bois by Jean Charles Brosseau, Jessica McClintock for women, Fruity Rythm by Adidas, Pacific Paradise and Island Kiss by Escada, Faconnable Femme by Faconnable, Guess for Women, Head over Heals by Revlon, Incanto and Incanto Charm by Salvatore Ferragamo, Flower for Women by Kenzo, Spring Flower and Fantasia de Fleurs by Creed, Fleur de Diva by Ungaro, Fleur de Fleurs by Nina Ricci . let me just catch my breath The list goes on and on, so you will have many options here. make sure with your darling which fruit or flower she likes, else she just might get a headache

Since men’s fragrances tend to be less fruity and sweet, you would think that you would have fewer options, compared to women’s fragrances, but don’t forget that almost all perfumes have a flower or a fruit thrown in somewhere. Some ideas for him are: Baldessarini by Hugo Boss, Black Code by Giorgio Armani, Neroli Sauvage by Creed, Curve by Liz Claiborne, Sport by Royal Copenhagen and Very Sexy for Men by Victoria’s Secret.

Now to the last theme of the first five anniversaries. Year 5 is Wood, so if you include fragrance notes like sandalwood, you are going to have a lot of options again. for women, get Glamourous by Ralph Lauren, Eau de Dior Relaxing by Christian Dior, Shi by Alfred Sung, Versace Woman by Versace, Sensi by Giorgio Armani, Black Cashmere by DKNY or Blush for Women by Marc Jacobs. Honestly, there are so many I could fill up a whole page, but these will give you an idea.

And finally, for men you have Black XS by Paco Rabanne, BLV Notte by Bulgari, Brit for Men by Burberry, Cacharel for Men by Cacharel, Dune by Christian Dior, Gravity by Coty and Gucci Pour Homme, just to name a few.

Love bathing together is a romantic indulgence. The togetherness and closeness you share with your partner during this time is unmatched by any other romantic moment. A love bath can take away a very stressful day, make a great I’m sorry or a sensual I love you. make the most of this romantic ritual will light just about everyone’s romantic fire. when you want to do something very special for your lover, or are feeling a bit apart from each other, indulge in a romantic love bath for two

It is important to embrace each other and make the most of the togetherness you have. this must be a special time for you and your lover to be together and embrace each other. Look into your lovers eyes and see the love that is deep in the pupils, feel that tender touch. Stroke each others hair and feel the silky smoothness of each others skin.

The must have ingredients.

The two must have items you will need are, candles and spa quality bubble bath. Scented candles are the best option. Try to find nice aphrodisiac type scents like rose, jasmine and lavender. when you choose your bubble bath, be aware of the scents you’ve choose for the candles and what type of effect you want to have. You want it to be a more refreshing interlude, so choose spa quality bath treatments in rain or similar type scents. Is a romantically sensual bath what you’re after, then make sure to choose stronger more robust scents similar to sandalwood, or try lavender or a rose scented bubble bath. For a fun loving romantic bath, use fruity scents like watermelon, peach or berry.

Perfumes – A Quick Guide to Herbaceous Fragrances

Perfumes are classified into different categories based on their ingredients, character, and notes to make it easier for customers to identify and buy the fragrance of their choice. for those who have a passion for perfumes and also for collectors who wish to know everything there is about the world of perfume, classifying perfumes into different groups helps them to make a detailed study of their subject.

Further benefits from classifying perfumes enable a buyer to work out if what she’s hoping to buy will suit her body chemistry, whether it would click with her moods and trends, whether the ingredients contained therein will cause an allergic reaction in her skin and also if it will be the ideal gift for the person she’s hoping to buy it for.

Herbaceous perfumes are not generally known to be as popular as for instance floral or citrus. However, there are certain perfumes, especially for men that have received acclaim over a period of time. Herbaceous scents usually have herbaceous top notes with base notes of lavender, oak moss and coumarin and depend on aromatic chemicals to produce notes that blend well. Herbaceous scents have been described in the past as fougere or ferny. However this was a fantasy note since ferns are scentless and the ferny fragrance was created from using largely lavender. Green has also been a term used to describe this type of fragrance.

Listed below is a list of Herbaceous Perfumes that have been popular for some time now.

YSL River Gauche Pour Homme
A masculine fragrance carrying notes of rosemary, star anise, bergamot, lavender, cloves, vetiver and patchouli considered to be an aromatic perfume.

Christian Dior’s Eau Savage
Very popular at one time is a classic eau de toilette with notes of Rosemary, Basil, Water Jasmine, Lemon and Vetiver.

Body Kuros by Yves St. Laurent
Created in 2000 with a fragrant note of eucalyptus fading down to camphorwood and berizoin mingling with mace and cedarwood.

Patou Pour Homme
A gentleman’s scent and for one who is comfortable with life with notes of lavender, tarragon, hot pepper, bergamot, cinnamon, geranium, leather, amber, Carnation and Vanilla.

Annick-Goutal Eau de’Hadrien
An aromatic combination of lemon, cypress and grapefruit reminding one of the Mediterranean heat and the shade of lemon trees. Winner of FIFI 2008 Hall of Fame Award.

Herbaceous fragrances tend to be popular in Summer as they are often light and airy fragrances.

Scented Soap – How to Get it Right

Scent plays a big role in what a person likes. we naturally to gravitate towards things that smell good. for example, if a person smelled bad, we would probably avoid talking to them. Another example, when food smells good, it is more enjoyable to eat. It shouldn’t be a surprise then, that often, people buy soap because the product smells good to them.

Scented soap that has a perfect blend of fragrances is something that is difficult to get right. If you are following a tried and tested recipe, your soap will probably turn out okay, but if you are trying to create unique fragrance combinations of your own, you must tread carefully. usually, it takes years of patience, practice, and a lot of smelly batches to hone your skills in the art of scented soap making.

When creating scented soap for the first time, always keep in mind the scents of the soap oils you are using. some essential oils have a fragrance of their own. This fragrance has to be kept in mind when trying to figure our the scent of the end product. If the essential oil has a strong natural fragrance, you should only add supporting fragrances to your end product. If it has a mild fragrance, you can try to match it with a complementary scent. for example, if you are using a strongly scented almond oil, only add scents that will go well with almonds like cinnamon.

From the example above, you can see that fragrance oils should only be added as needed. If a product will smell good on its own, adding a fragrance oil can potentially ruin the end result. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t do it at all, though. If a product has a scent of its own, you can try adding fragrance oils with milder scents first, and ones that will complement the initial scent, as mentioned.

When adding a fragrance to a soap without any scent, stick to milder scents again. Learn your scents well before you start combinations. When you do begin combining scents, stick to gentle fragrances first. Gentler fragrances tend to complement each other and not overpower any of the scents you may be trying to blend and achieve.

If you want to use a fragrance that is quite strong, be sure to commit your scented soap to that one fragrance. until you are familiar with the fragrance and what will go well with it, don’t begin mixing When you are ready, give your strong fragrance mild undertones. NEVER put two strong scents together. you will usually just get an overpowering smell that will be far from appealing.

Try to get a good fragrance guide for your scented soaps. Look up fragrance charts for flowers in order to see which ones are usually paired together in a bouquet. Remember, they have to be fragrance charts. These will help you figure our which of your soap fragrance oils will go well together too.

Finally, be careful when it comes to non-floral scents, like sea scents or the scent of rain. These are usually synthetic scents, which means they are not natural. Think about whether or not you want a synthetic scent in your end product or a synthetic material in your soap at all. If you like making organic soap, this may not be a good idea, and having only natural qualities in a soap may be important to some customers.

How To Become A Perfume Entrepreneur

Dior, Chanel, Jane Doe. You too can become a perfume make at home if you have an entrepreneurial spirit and a little know how. the techniques involved in perfume making are age old and quite simple.

What is required above all is the desire to learn the art how to discriminate between different scents. to make perfume you must be prepared to make yourself an expert in smell. This is the crucial thing in becoming a perfume entrepreneur. your nose is the most important piece of equipment and you already have it. All you have to do is train it.

A perfume maker needs to be conscious of smell. Most of us go about without thinking about smell. If we a notice particularly bad smell we are revolted. If we catch a really beautiful smell we are delighted. but we seldom think about the more subtle smells that surround us all day.

Begin by thinking about smell. This is the first step in training your nose to discern smells. If you want to make perfume you must learn to smell. Learn what a lemon smells like. Compare it to an orange. Sniff different spices. try to distinguish between them.

Go outside or into another room and sniff the air. Close your eyes and concentrate. what can you smell? think like a perfume maker. Count how many smells you can discern.

It is no good doing that in a room where you have been sitting for several hours. Time is important in perfume. your nose becomes habituated to smells. All the receptors in your nostrils are filled up with the molecules that make up the smells in that room. Whether it is the cat on the sofa or the vase of flowers on the dresser, your nose stops smelling them.

Even if you walk through a field of gorgeous flowers your nose will become accustomed to the smells after a time. the molecules of essential oils will still be in the air but you will not be able to discern them. This is an important thing to understand in perfume.

We’ve all had the experience of walking into our homes after being away and suddenly becoming aware of the smells, whether pleasant or unpleasant, that we usually don’t notice. A perfume maker needs to refresh their nose. If you spend all day mixing a batch of perfume you will stop smelling it.

A perfume must have a range of essential oils if it is to have a continuing effect. This is what we mean when we talk about the notes in a perfume. Some notes, usually the flowery ones, will be discerned at once. Other notes in the perfume, usually the woody ones, will only be discerned more gradually. A balanced perfume that has fresh, floral and woody notes will give a lasting effect.

The essential oils are what we smell in a perfume. Essential oils are volatile substances that vaporise in the air. they are sensitive to heat and light. So in the preparation of a perfume and its storage we must protect them from both or they will be lost.

If you are making perfume on a small scale then the equipment needed is very simple. Jars, bowls and funnels are all that you need. As you progress to making perfume on a commercial scale you may need a more elaborate set up but the principles are the same. Remember always that your aim in making perfume is purity. You must protect your perfume from contamination to get a perfect product that will delight you and your customers.

Aromatherapy Massage and Massage Oils

Aromatherapy, as the name suggests, means treating the body using scents. Throw in massage to that and you have a healing treatment that stimulates the senses – touch, smell and even sight and hearing (when the setting is right and you have added mood lighting and relaxing music). With this modality, essential oils are used to massage so as to heal and promote wellness. Aromatherapy has been proven to improve one’s health, cognitive function and mood. An important aspect of the aromatherapy massage is the oils that are used. these essential oils can heal, kill bacteria, cure skin problems, invigorate the senses and relieve pain.

This is a holistic treatment program that lets you enjoy the smell of essential oils such as peppermint, lavender, rose and lemon. Drops of these oils are applied and rubbed into the skin, added to the bath water, or burned in such a way that it fills the entire room. as you inhale these pleasant scents, your nervous system and brain are stimulated and rejuvenated.

The oils used for aromatherapy massage are actually taken from botanical materials – flowers, trees, fruits, leaves, bark, etc. there are around 150 of these oils and these can be used by themselves or blended with other oils. Eucalyptus, bergamot, basil, jasmine, sandalwood and ylang ylang are just some of these. It is important that these oils are all-natural, oils that are synthetic will not be as effective. these essential oils contain chemical components such as ketones, esters, alcohols, terpenes and aldehydes that have health benefits to the body.

Suntan lotion for my white arabian geldings?

I was wondering if I could use a baby suntan lotion on their noses until I am able to get into town and get some horse stuff? (Sorry, i don't have a car today and worried about this sun and heat). Thanks!

I wouldn't recommend you ever buy the horse kind tbh, it's a rip off and does the exact same. I use human sun cream- my current brand is tesco's own, factor 50 baby brand ;D

Just make sure it's suitable for sensitive skin and doesn't have any weird scents or anything, what you have sounds fine. I would just stick to that and never bother with the proper stuff if I was you :) it's absolutely fine to do that. After all, if it's good enough for babies, it's good enough for horses!

Yes that should be totally fine. if the horse sunblock is more expensive don't bother buying it. People sunblock works perfectly fine and usually if it is targeted specifically 'for horses' then it will be more expensive just because people will buy into it. I have always only used 'people' sunblock on my horses and have had no problems :)

I have a blue and white cob and his nose, heels and even under his tail are very pink. I used a factor 30 sun screen but as soon as he grazes, it rubs off. I now use Sudocrem, (babies nappy rash cream) apparently the sun doesn't get through it. Just lately, I keep him in during the day and take him for a walk about 4ish to get the circulation going and preventing his legs from filling up. After his tea, he goes out for the night. This seams to suit both of us. if your horses are out, re-apply the block every few hours OR keep them in.

yup! i use it all the time for my lil quarter horses nose. he hates the smell though. be sure your geldins dont try to lick it off because it could potetially make them colic if they eat a lot of it. But yup i use it all the time.

WARNING! dont use the spray sunblock, it could get into your horse's eyes

Sun tan lotion? you should never use sun TAN lotion, those intensify the sun's rays. I think you mean to say Sun Block? then yes, human sun block will work him if your horse doesn't have sensitive skin. Baby sun block is typically gentler on the skin so baby sun block would be good for a horse.

Yes you can use the water babies, it's hypoallergenic. we used sunblock on our horses (wherever their skin was pink and hair was sparse; nose, around the feet, legs, etc) works great. I still use it on my kids and my dog (she has a pink nose and we live in a very sunny hot area).

How to Make Soap at Home? A Brief Guide to Soap Making

One of the latest trends for the home is to buy handmade soaps weight in specialty stores, with the aim of giving new flavors, shapes and colors to the bathroom. did you know that you yourself can easily produce soap at home? You just need some materials and tools you can find in shops devoted to crafts and perfumes.

The first is to buy glycerin soap base and coconut, and cut into small pieces. We introduce in a glass container and turn it into a saucepan with water to warm water bath slowly.

Time has gone from solid to liquid we add the scents and colors to choose. Here we can buy in shops specializing in aromatherapy, cosmetics and perfumery. the options can be found are many, from all sorts of colors, all types of perfumes: jasmine, rose, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, thyme, sandalwood, etc..

If we want to make different flavors and colors, we can mix the soap with the essence in smaller jars. We will have to move the resulting mixture gradually and avoid foaming, until we have achieved a smooth paste.

We now introduce the paste of soap into molds, which must withstand high temperatures, because the mixture is added hot. Molds can have curious ways, or simply be rectangular in the latter case, it is useful to use a baking pan. there are special plastic mold shops to make soaps with very original ways.

If we want to give a decorative touch to the soap and a different texture, the dough can be made to some additions, from pieces of other soaps, to shells, flowers and nuts, beads of soap and even leaves and plant motifs.

Some items float and others sink, so it is appropriate in these cases to a first layer with the addition of heavier and a second surface with the lighter. We can also make soap two or three layers, each of one color. it is advisable not to mix scents, as the mixture may be too ‘cheesy’ to smell.

In thirty minutes we can mold. We should let them sit at least two days in a cool, dry, and always wrapped in plastic to prevent spoiling. the work experience in each soap will give us new and original ideas to apply in successive crafts.

Exploring The Different Types of Bath Wedding Favors

Bath and soap wedding favors come in many different types, shapes, colors and scents. A bath or soap favor can be luxurious and soothing; and is a great favor for bridal showers, baby showers, bridal luncheons, and even wedding favors. When shopping for bath favors you may not know what the difference between the types of bath favors that are available. Let’s explore the most common of the types of bath favors available on the market today.

Bath Fizzers or Bath Bombs

Bath bombs are more commonly known in the favor market as bath fizzers; however both terms can be used interchangeably. When placed in water the bath fizzer dissolves and effervesces and in some cases adds color, scent and / or other materials into the water. Bath fizzers are normally composed of sodium bicarbonate (or another soluble carbonate) and citric acid (or other organic acid) which creates the fizzing effect when the solid reacts with the water. Bath fizzers usually are a single use shaped tablet or ball. many fizzers contain soothing elements (such as a scent) and may also contain a cleaning agent (such as sea salt). many say that the fizzing, bubbling action of fizzers is both tickling and relaxing. There are many exciting bath favor shapes on the market today including wedding cakes, fortune cookies, flowers, shells, and starfish.

Bath Salts

Bath salts are very beneficial as they can be composed of various minerals depending on the origin of them. Bath salts are normally crystalline in composition and a little scoop can go a long way. Bath salts normally dissolve completely in water and change the composition of the water so that the longer a bather soaks – they are less likely to prune or wrinkle. Bath salts soften the water and can condition the skin leaving a silky feeling. Depending on the manufacturer, bath salts can be scented and/or colored as well.

Bath Powder

Bath powder is similar in mineral composition to bath salts and contains the same therapeutic properties. however, bath salts are not crystalline, but rather a fine powder and dissolve much more easily when placed in water.

Bath Pearls or Bath Caviar

Bath pearls are also known as bath caviar. These bath beads are sure to provide a luxurious and indulging bath-time experience. Drop a handful into the tub to release the wonderful aroma and skin-soothing moisturizers as they dissolve.

Bath Confetti

Bath confetti is a paper thin soluble solid bubble bath. When you sprinkle confetti under warm running water the confetti will foam, dissolve and release a scent into the bath. Alternatively, you can sprinkle the confetti on top of the water to enjoy the confetti before it dissolves. This method will not produce foam but will make the bath scented and soft.

Flower Petal Soaps / Rose Petal Soaps

Wafer thin flower petals look just like their real flower counterparts. They can be sprinkled into the bath to create a wonderful floral scent, or can be used as single use soap.

Whatever bath favors you select for your guests, they will appreciate a luxurious relaxing bath after your event. Bath favors are suitable for all ages (including children over 3 – kids love fun bath time!) and are a wonderful treat.
